I have been working at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – competitive salary, most folks are friendly and willing to share knowledge, mentoring environment, many educational and training courses are offered for advancement within the institution.
Cons – It's not what you know, but who you know environment. Fear of retalitaion from upper management is frequently a concern across the institution. Many in management positions are office bullies, and often threaten employees to ensure processes are carried out their way. Even though the way they want it carried out may not be the very best or logical way...they want it their way. Additionally, I have experienced going above and beyond my call of duty for years, only to receive pennies as monetary compensation. Needless to say, I've often witnessed a severe lack of caring, integrity, and character in upper management. Additionally, on a few occasions, as sad as it is, I've even seen forms of racisim. It's right under the radar, but it's here. In some shape, form or fashion, employees have to pay to come to work. Either paying to ride a bus, van pool, or ridiculous parking prices for a local garage.

Pros – they have a free gym on campus for employees, good medical benefits, most patients love you.
Cons – unfair pay scales (e.g. very educated personnel receive far less often times than partly educated personnel), they have a tendency to prefer to hire from within, very commercialized.

I have been working at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center full-time for more than a year
Pros – I had the chance to work with smart researchers. The offices are big and quite. There is a fitness center for free for the ones who works out regularly.
Cons – Compensation is lower than the other places. Any paperwork takes long time inside the institution. The administrative personnel is not responsive to our concerns. Had to chance to see my advisor very rarely and briefly.
Advice to Senior Management – Correcting those: Compensation is lower than the other places. Any paperwork takes long time inside the institution. The administrative personnel is not responsive to our concerns. Had to chance to see my advisor very rarely and briefly.

I have been working at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – It's very clean and a nice modern and social environment. Each person who works here feels like we make a difference, it's not just a job. Educational opportunities are pretty good. Nice gym on site and plenty of programs for work/life balance. Very good benefits and retirement package.
Cons – There is a lot of red tape here, but I think it would be that way at any place the size of MD Anderson. It's difficult to get promoted or get a decent raise here. The pay is not on par with other positions in different institutions unfortunately. And the workload to staff ratio is very is very uneven a lot of the time.
Advice to Senior Management – Overall I think Management does a good job, like any other position you have good ones, and bad ones. Do more to see the potential in your people, reward them or they'll leave.

I have been working at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – I loved the previous environment, but now...not much pros
Cons – I loved the previous environment, but now...because of the depression, it becomes more and more difficult to survive here. Everyday, you will here some faculties leaving the institution, and of course their employees as well.
Advice to Senior Management – Should give more chance to all the faculties and trainees. The funding is now only in certain people's control.

Pros – Great benefits, including tuition reimbursement and a nice gym on campus to work out in. MD Anderson also has a great mentoring program for developing your professional goals and making connections with employees in other departments.
Cons – The starting salary is relatively low for some positions. Also, MD Anderson is highly bureaucratic so it takes a long for something to be approved.
