    Pros

    Good focus on staff training especially line staff, on staff awareness of the company and company goal - movement available overseas for the right person

    Cons

    Managers can get left behind with focus on line staff
    Growth in all areas of the world with set standards can be a negativtive as countries do not always have the available items/goods/regulations

    Pros

    Marriott opens a door of opportunities to talented people who enjoys what they do. Marriott embodies a culture and values - "look after the associates (staff members) and the associates will look after the business."

    Cons

    Busy operation - need to be on your toes at all times. Working on different individuals with different communication styles and culture.

    Keep the momentum going, be healthy and exercise regularly, keep up with the world news, read books related to managing people and the hospitality industry.

    Pros

    The people are by far the best part of my job. My co-workers are the best and you get to meet some interesting guests.

    Cons

    At my current hotel there is no room for advancement. We do not have supervisors and upper management has been with Marriott for 20+ years. Also, though the hiring pay has gone up, my wages have not making it so I am only making a dollar more than new hires when I've been with Marriott for more than 5 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Look at pay for current employees before raising pay for new hires.

    Pros

    Great culture, flexible, professional work environment, room to grow, great training. I enjoyed my time at Marriott and would consider going back in the future. As long as you show desire and work hard you will advance in your career.

    Cons

    Some supervisors are tough but if you push through you will be fine. There is always an opportunity to move throughout the company.

    Pros

    -Depending on your department and your manager, they are very flexible with hours. I was a full time student and worked full time, and scheduling was barely an issue.
    -If you work full time you're eligible for health care benefits
    -Great hotel discounts for employees
    -Great pay
    -A lot opportunity to move up in the company

    Cons

    -Stagnant communication from lower to upper management
    -Departments don't always get along management wise
    -Cafeteria food is low-tier

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Marketing. The hotel has three pools on the property, a very nice spa, and is immediately across the street from a high end shopping mall. Take advantage of what the property has to offer, give out special promotions for the spa.

    the benefits are great the hours are great most of the team members are great it was a great experience and to be a part of the Marriott in general is a benefit for the employee and the hotel if you are a great worker

    Cons

    time management was a bit undecided and it was shaky when it came to the schedule due to change in management also communication needs to be improved with management and some staff.

    Pros

    You get discounts to stay at pretty much any Marriott anywhere (with advance planning) and it's not one of those "boring desk jobs". You get TONS of customer service experience and learn something new daily. Great for college aged kids not looking for a career but a respectable job.

    Cons

    It's hard to get those discounts sometimes, and can be hard to get off on the weekends naturally. Marriott doesn't give its employees enough "reward" or benefits, so make sure it's a hotel with a good management company. There will ALWAYS be be turnover in hotel business, it's just not a career, so be prepared for change in management in employees IF you're even there long.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Go above and beyond for the guests and looks for those types of employees who will do the same. Be a manager not a friend, set boundaries and don't forget to be there in front sometimes too.
