Marriott opens a door of opportunities to talented people who enjoys what they do. Marriott embodies a culture and values - "look after the associates (staff members) and the associates will look after the business."

    Cons

Busy operation - need to be on your toes at all times. Working on different individuals with different communication styles and culture.

I worked at Marriott full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Marriott does a good job helping with personal development and ensuring that its employees are on track to meet their career goals. Great tradition and history as well.

    Cons

Old fashioned values guided the company. Supposedly this has changed in the last two years. Lack of educated employees at the hotel level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Institute a standardized hiring process for finding exceptional talent from undergraduate universities and from graduate universities. Less emphasis on adhering to policy.

I have been working at Marriott as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

It's hard to refer to Marriott as "a company" after meeting the CEOs and watching them interact with their staff. A truly inspirational place to work where every employee matters. It is easy to be passionate about what you do when those in charge are passionate about you. Good benefits for employees and family with a good community culture.

    Cons

With the large amount of work assigned, the work-life balance can be very difficult to juggle initially.
