    Pros

Good name, however that can only take you so far.

    Cons

Too many management companies bidding on how low they can run a a Marriott. Marriott corporate cannot compete with these low baller management companies. Associate suffer with less benefits and less pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to reach for longevity goals, not short term investor goals.

    I worked at Marriott full-time

    Pros

Management company provides an array of benefits and perks. Flexibility in schedules for front office staff. Limited staff members promotes communication and work support. Open door policy to exchange ideas and strategies to upper management.

    Cons

Small working staff means longer hours and less work-life balance. Management lacks proficient training in order to succeed. No cross training provided. Health insurance only covers employees after a large out-of-pocket expense.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide better new hire and on going training for all employees. Practice in house promotions among long term staff. Encourage team work and celebrate those goals when achieved.

I have been working at Marriott full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The friendships along the way. How to deal with different types of personalities from all parts of the world.

    Cons

Managers do not lookout for your best interest or see what your strengths are within the company. Scheduling was absolutely terrible (when were short staffed totally understandable, but this wasn't the case). Don't work for a franchise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate the associates who work overtime so you don't have to be there.

    I worked at Marriott full-time

    Pros

Great energy. Decent benefits. Lots of chances to grow.

    Cons

Management structure is not conducive to a positive environment. Managers have been in their jobs too long and make it hard for meaningful changes to happen. Everyday at work you need to prepare for battle.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't promote someone just because you feel like it. Train first time managers properly or they will not stay with you long.

I have been working at Marriott

    Pros

Nice motivation (mostly hypocritical, of course) and principles, saying it's all about people and valuing them.

    Cons

Extremely greedy management in the hotel! It's all about savings. On their own associates, of course.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest, if your declare you appreciate someone's great work - do something real to show it (not always except money).
