    Pros

Great family. Great company. Has a vision for the future of security. The Intel purchase has lead to a more strategic vision.

    Cons

Intel integration still working through issues. Intel has great programs for work life balance, even including a Sabbatical. Good pay, perks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus efforts on helping McAfee, and other purchased corporations, to become Intel.

I have been working at McAfee full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Decent company to start your IT career if you are a graduate but don't stay too long.

    Cons

The fluctuation of staff is extremelly high, sometimes people are dissapearing from the floor after just 1-2 months in the company. Everyone just stops making the effort to learn the names of their new collegues or say hello to each other. Professionalism and politeness are optional in McAfee Cork. There is low investment in people, poor salary, no career progession plan, salaries are not reviewed every year. People working for 3 years whith the exact amount offered to them in the fist work day. There are no team events.

Because the recruitment process takes longer than the usual norm, there's a big period between a person leaving and finding a replacement. For the new comer the start is sharp to say the least, with no help from the manager or team members. I would suggest you ask at interview for how long your position has been with no incumbent to give you an idea of the backlog. Expect to be given a sales quote in day one, with no pipe line created. Expect afterwards to be requested to make up for the sales missing during the year while your job position was empty.

You are hoping to join a cool IT company and what you find coming to Cork it's this outdated call center with 1990 management style and TV screens mounted on the wall monitoring your calls. Absolutely all jobs in Cork are telesales whether called ISR, iCAM, LDR, you will have a telesales job and be treated like a telesales. Because of the unfriendly and unsupportive environment that is evident througout McAfee in Cork, the change of location and culture makes is relatively stressful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some so called loyal employees who have been working in Cork for 2-3 years are there because they've developed the art of not working at work, amounting cigarette breaks longer than their working hours.

Maybe you should review everyones jobs and distribute workload equally, it's not fair to increase sales quota for new employees constantly, but accept with no problem the underporming explanations, blaming the market and economic crise, from older employees who have just learnt to sweet talk to the management.

Top management should check why lots of middle managers reward through preference and not merit. Maybe then people will not be running out of McAfee with the high speed they do now.

Cares more about making money, than making great security products!

I have been working at McAfee full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and mostly great people (below Director level). There are a few higher up who "get it", but probably won't stay around long. Intel has finally had enough, and is fully absorbing McAfee.

    Cons

Buys companies that make good security products instead of developing their own. McAfee leadership is totally out of touch, and are too interested in hearing themselves talk.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Embrace Intel. They understand security. Actually read the comments of your employees. Stop rewarding only those who say yes and kiss the ground you walk on. Slow down and make things secure to safeguard customers instead of rushing to market for a quick sale.

I have been working at McAfee full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

McAfee is somewhat of a melting pot in the talent pool. Great for breaking into sales and opens doors to move into other companies. GREAT atmosphere, very family like between employees on the sales floor.

    Cons

If you're not in the buddy system, plan to stay in your position with a small base and aggressive quota

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If management would take more interest in retaining/growing existing sales talent instead of hiring college recruits there would be more stability. It's also a common theme to interview for a position that either you sought out or they approach you for and then go silent. Silence and disconnects are a problem when attempting to advance unless you're apart of the buddy program.

I worked at McAfee part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Very relaxed culture, pay depends on performance (if you are working in sales), upper management is very helpful with entry level positions

    Cons

Not the highest prestige, personal growth opportunities limited, can get complacent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have more strict policies and increase the brand image of the company to draw in better talent

    Pros

Good place to work. Focus is always on delivering products which are relevant to the customers.
IDeas from employees get more than fair review. Employees get to enhance their skills by working on projects of thier interest and are also paired up with mentors.

    Cons

There is a fair bit of political maneuvering, especially in the management layer.
