Former Employee – worked at Medpace full-time

ProsNone
I guess if you like your colleagues then that is the only positive.

ConsNon-director level positions don't have a private office, set-up is cubicles, there is no privacy as everyone can hear your conversations. There's micromanagement, the directors don't know how to delegate. They need to learn how to delegate the workload. HR does not allow for the employees to socialize so be very careful what you say and watch your behavior. You can be terminated without any reason.

There are better companies than this one.

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn how to delegate the workload. Follow the employee's job description. There is no training in place in any department. Need to learn how to implement team building.

ProsMoney is good but not better than similar companies. Lots of hardworking people

ConsCompany run on fear. Upper Management is weak and barely credible. Poor respect for employees. Lots of workers are unhappy and scared and are always looking for other opportunities. I want to go too.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet some training how to mange people or do something else.

ProsYoung workforce. Fast-paced environment. New facilities. Free lunches. 3-weeks vacation starting. Exercise facility onsite.

ConsNo training offered (experience needed or developed individually). Roles not fully fleshed-out. Develop quickly or leave.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement staff needs to rotate. Too many titles created beacause no more room in managment. Learn proper management styles.

ProsCoworkers are wonderful people. Company really cares about the employees. Business is growing rapidly so workload can be heavy at times, but that is recognized and time off is encouraged to avoid burn out. Small perks are great- free soda, tea, coffee, and lunch.

ConsIf you don't fit here you don't stay, though that could be a pro or a con. Company gives everyone a chance but does not hesitate to terminate those that don't fit. Work load is high, but not unmanageable. Definitely have to be able to manage your own time and be pro-active in your job.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep supporting and communicating with your employees - both help everyone feel valued and part of the team. We are proud to be working here and want to be able to continue helping the company grow.

ProsLab Supervisor is very knowledgable and very supportive of the techs.Always there to help. She is very professional when dealing with the more "difficult" employees.

ConsLong hours somedays. Would be nice to be paid hourly instead of salaried.Lab Director is non existent. Lab is not as "important" as the CRO.

Advice to Senior ManagementLab Supervisor needs additional. Would be nice if upper management listened to her recommendations. She encourages independence but is always there if needed.

ProsGreat salary and benefits package.
It is a good place to learn about phamaceutical research. It is a good place to develop lab skills.
Not having to work on holidays is great for lab workers.

ConsI work in the lab and the hours can be long. You have to stay until all the work is done.
The micromanagement is stressful, you are questioned about your work and why you do it the way you do.
Manager is condescending and talks "down" to employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementOffer some management training classes so managers know how to interact with employees without micromanaging. Being a good manager is not about reminding people you are the boss.
The social events are a great way to meet people from other departments and learn about what other kinds of work are done at the company.

Former Employee – worked at Medpace

ProsGood upcoming brand in the clinical research landscape, Solid growth over the last many years, expertise in clinical development. Good Salary and office infrastructure. Excellent local leadership in India when I joined.

ConsSevere lack of communication with associates outside US, no global leadership, knee jerk reaction company with ever changing policies, severe lack of vision, lack of reward for foreign workers, run like a family business by CEO and Head of Clinical Operations - Almost like an anarchy, Lot of politics and back biting, especially between MRL laboratory and CRO.

Advice to Senior ManagementEngage the foreign workers more, you need them to survive in your tough business or else shut your business outside US.
