I have been working at Molina Healthcare

    Pros

Friends and family first. Based on who you know determines whether you get hired or promoted.

    Cons

If you're not a friend or family, you get looked over for a promotion or hired at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Choose based on education and skills rather than friends or family first.

    Pros

Molina treats the employees very well. Doesn't just say they value employees they show it. Impromptu holiday authorized for entire company because Senior Management recognizes how hard employees are working. Graeter's, Sno-Cone, popcorn and other stuff provided free for employees on a regular basis. Management treats employees with respect.
You actually get trained for your position. They value and actively promote employees growing in their careers.
Bottom line if they say it, they mean it.

    Cons

    Honestly can't think of any.

I worked at Molina Healthcare as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

I really enjoyed my project---writing a User's Manual for one of their baggage-scanning systems. I was permitted to work independently, and given the tools i needed to do my job, after some delays. Once i got rolling on it everything went smoothly.

    Cons

The offices are shabby, crowded, poorly lit, noisy, and old. My manager was a snob, a sexist, and closed minded. He had one favorite girl that he relied on exclusively while i was ignored and underappreciated. My work---no, ME overall---was excluded from meetings, treated like a nobody, and even after trying my best and producing a manual that was essential to the company, i was let go with one hour's notice.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the Old Guard and hire some managers who actually practice fair employment practices, aren't sexist or racist, speak English, and have an education.

I have been working at Molina Healthcare full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The company leaders talk about values and serving the under served.
Many jobs do not require any education therefore no glass ceilings for people without college degrees.
New employees love Molina - they are paid fairly, they believe in the Molina lip-service, they haven't been exposed to the incompetent FOM's(friends of Molina). Great place to get some experience then go to a "real" company.

    Cons

Compensation is not transparent and external candidates are treated better than internal candidates - the disparity between the two continues.
They are a fortune 500 family run company with many "FOM"s - Friend of Molina. The FOM's are untouchable - generally not qualified to do whatever position they are in and simply another layer of nonsense.
It is a top heavy company where the Peter Principal is apparent at every turn.
Advancement opportunities require relocation to Long Beach, CA

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring your unqualified friends into position of influence. Allow autonomy of decision making for leaders outside of the corporate structure. Your idea of centralized functions has created the worst of both worlds, you have teams in one location being supervised by managers in another state, poor performance should be addressed and because you surround yourself with FOM's so you have no awareness that "The Emperor has no clothes". So much waste in your management structure.
