Don't go there unless you are unemployed

I have been working at MoneyGram International full-time

ProsSince it is an understaffed company lacking of a structured organization you will be asked to take accountability in several tasks ranging from strategy to poorly administrative stuff. In my perception, coming from a well structured multinational, very far from being considered a real Pros, in MG in very few months you'll be able to put your hands in almost every topic of your department. Careful! I said put your hands and not manage...

ConsAbsence of any kind of organizational structure. Absence of any mid/long term view. Very bad company climate and morale. Cost saving attitude which is generating two major kind of issues: 1) no interest in upgrading a system which should be central in the service marketed and it is indeed creating huge problems 2) chronic understaffing which is generating a poor execution in delivering any kind of activity

In one sentence: inadequate management for a company which would need a great effort to survive in a tough competitive arena

Advice to Senior ManagementStart applying a real long term view unless you wanna bankrupt this company in less than 10 year.
There is a huge work to do in different areas (staff management- organizational - IT) and it is probably too late already; start focusing where it really matters.

Great company to work for

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at MoneyGram International full-time for more than a year

ProsMoneyGram is a great company to work for. They offer competitive salary and outstanding employee benefits. The company is technologically savvy and incorporates the latest and greatest when it comes to this area. The leadership at the top is competent and the company is growing.

ConsAs in most very large companies communication is an issue. The department I worked in was very high stress due to frequently changing priorities. I think the departmental leadership tries to accommodate other departments too much instead of either saying "no" or at the very least, "not now, but in a few weeks". In this regard they create some of their stress.

I worked at MoneyGram International full-time for more than 3 years

ProsAverage benefits and compensation, nice building.

ConsMGI needs very long to go, before to call itsel as "international company" , the management act and think like a local small business, they are lack of communication, there is no accountabilty whatsoever. It is a company where projects are no well planned from one year to another like mature companies do.......they are coming from the sky with the approval of the CEO and it is a caos because the company does not have enough employees and system to really be efficient to implement this projects.

Advice to Senior ManagementThey need to have a solid Blueprint to leadership..........and the CEO and her staff should focus on how tho change the company in a successful manner. Many people resign just out of a tremendous frustation.

Prossemi relaxed environment , work with decent people and do not mind what i do

Consmanagement lacks the experience and know how to properly lead the company in the right direction

Advice to Senior Managementdont look at what things will save you today , they will cost you more than what you save up front in the long run.

I worked at MoneyGram International as a contractor for less than a year

Pros-I really enjoyed the team I was working with, a diverse group that got along well.
-I was given a lot of responsibilities even as a contract worker.
-Opportunity to take on projects if motivated to seek them out.
-Great experience with my supervisor
-Opportunities to work with charities regularly.

Cons-At times it seems to be a tired place.
-Lots of turnover.
-Not a lot of corporate or upper level interaction with my team.
-Seemed too informal at times...employees could wear jeans every day if they gave a certain amount to a charity...I prefer more professional environment, but that's just me.

Advice to Senior ManagementEngage with as many levels as you can.
