    Pros

Great benefits, opportunity to expand into other areas and regions

    Cons

Corporate driven mentality of having to meet projected stock expectations at all costs

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make budgets based on demand forecasting not what increase in sales needs to be made to make a stock promise to the public

I have been working at Monsanto Company full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Work-life balance, Freedom to operate, strong pipeline of work, job security, good work culture, very strongly promotes employee safety, very good for people grooming to become people managers. Very cool managers(only few Teams) you just need to come up with good initiative and drive it, people are very supportive. You will have lots of free time to study, learn anything new on your own, do offline courses and attend seminars (of-course with managers approval). Company is always up-to-date with latest technologies in the industry (Cloud, Big Data, Scala, etc) you name it people will be using it somewhere in their project. But you need to have the push within you to go and learn those technologies and use it in your project. They have innovative ways to encourage talent in the IT team with Innovation Day once in every month where you can showcase anything new you come up with.

    Cons

Pay is good when you would have joined, later forget about good hike, lot of experienced people in the company with low upward growth, talented people who stay for long years cause stagnant growth. Lately the management keeps coming up with lots of org changes on yearly basic resulting in lot of confusions with roles and goals. Few teams do differentiate a lot between permanent employees and contractors so if you joining as contractor be aware. If you are technical guy you need to come up with your own career plan and work towards it, there is nothing much apart for that. Even when there is a good pipeline at work there is issue of business funding leading to joblessness and boredom for couple of months for IT folks, but on a good note company won't fire you, you just need to hang around and keep fingers crossed for good work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If people are doing great appreciate them with good hike with required promotions, else it will be difficult to retain hot talent. Lot of politics at the management level to take influencing positions resulting in people losing confidence over the leaders.

    I worked at Monsanto Company

    Pros

    High pay
    Great benefits
    Interesting work for Engineers
Good safety record, Pervasive safety culture
    Some really nice people

    Cons

Promoted because of who you know, as opposed to what you know.
Weak management- doesn't want to rock the boat.
Contractors can be treated like orphans (see weak management comment)low pay, no benefits.
Backstabbing is prevalent. Beware;some of the employees only want their own kind to work as their colleagues(see weak management comment, see promoted because of who you know, and H.R. Bobbleheads).
If the person who trains you is remarkably different from the person who interviewed you, RUN! The trainer will jealously guard their clique and stab you in the back (see weak management comment).

I have been working at Monsanto Company full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I have enjoyed some of the projects I've been given, have a nice boss and appreciate the good company benefits offered.

    Cons

If you are looking to be upwardly mobile, this may not be the place. "Networking", or playing the political game, are essential for moving up the ladder. Many stalled careers of good people as a result. Cost of living raises are about the most that many employees can expect.

I have been working at Monsanto Company as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

This is the first company I've worked for that really supports collaboration, transparency and work life balance. People are friendly, supportive and all about teamwork, regardless of function.

    Cons

It seems like a significant portion of the staff is hired as contractors, and it is difficult to tell how long it will take for an opportunity for conversion to a full time direct hire. Knowing that you don't get the benefits, bonuses and perks as direct hire colleagues who are doing the exact same work can be a bit demoralizing after a long period of time.

    I worked at Monsanto Company

    Pros

Really good working environment, really friendly employees. Boss was nice.

    Cons

Did not really work on the stuff that I was interested in. Wanted to code, but was somehow assigned to a team that managed IT tools.

I have been working at Monsanto Company full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

A great company to work for and build a long term career. Excellent focus on Work life Balance, great benefits and compensation and lots of opportunities for professional development. People is very respectful regarding others ideas, preferences, and ways of doing things and in addition you have the opportunity of Touching Life's of farmers and growers with your work and contribute to solve the food crisis on the world... quite noble purpose while growing professionally and economically

    Cons

Despite the opportunities for professional growing and due to the flat org structures, when you reach a certain level of responsibility you may face difficulties when trying to keep advancing on the hierarchies, but not big issue if you are not obsessed with organizational power

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue strengthen the familiar feeling of working for Monsanto. Its really great to work with such warm global leaders
