I have been working at Monsanto Company

    Pros

A general feeling of conducting head of the industry research, large budgets that allow the purchase of necessary equipment, incredible IT development and software, encouragement to develop.

    Cons

Wide changes in workload, unfulfilled promises of backfilling staff, a general feeling of employee expendability from senior management, and consistent misleading of an improved work life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior management needs to understand that the needs of all research locations, are not the same as those of St. Louis headquarters.

I have been working at Monsanto Company full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Employee oriented, great benefits, compensation and rewards. Company allows flexibility and supports work/life balance.

    Cons

Depending on the manager your career at the company can be made or broken. Leadership roles are not always filled by those who can effectively lead, but by those who have had years of experience or number of connections in the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

While networking is an excellent tool for flourishing at the company, ensuring that leadership skills are developed and required in leadership roles would ensure more employee retention. Not everyone has a talent to be a leader and not everyone in a leadership role is successful there.
