Former Employee – worked at Mspark full-time for more than a year
Pros – There is a great corporate atmosphere. The training is very thorough
Cons – selling print mail is EXTREMELY difficult in the digital age. The new hire compensation system is bad for sales. And the account services and graphics team are grossly underpaid.
Advice to Senior Management – Rethink the sales process for Inside Sales. It doesn't work the same as outside sales. The new hire compensation system is bad for sales. And the account services and graphics team are grossly underpaid.

Former Employee – worked at Mspark full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – -they have recruited great talent
-software developed on-site
-all depts great to work with except client services
-appear to be growing in a bright new direction
-produce loyal and hard-working employees
Cons – -in need of management overhaul
-high turnover in client services
Advice to Senior Management – There is a complete mismatch of talent and skill in client services. Sales staff is stressed out trying to meet unrealistic goals. Double marketing...outsource client services.

Pros – Good Ice Machine
Flexible schedule
Lots of friendly co-workers
Good place to meet new people
Cons – IT does not fix issues in a timely manner
Like to Hire from the outside instead of promote from within
A lot of good people hampered by bad decisions from the top
Good place to meet new people
Advice to Senior Management – Put more stock in tenue and performance, not outfits.
Treat all the groups evenly don't make it obvious who the favourites are.

Pros – Work from home, flexible schedule
Cons – Extreme micro managing for a job with no base salary. VERY outdated technically.

Former Employee – worked at Mspark
Pros – Sales support ( but that has gone away for most accounts now), Marketing and mapping departments giving you collateral materials, product is excellent and relevant.
Cons – Internal departments have become victims of bureaucracy and are more concerned with number targets than getting actual work done. Simultaneously cut base salary and commission percentage so many sales people left. It's a shell of the sales organization it once was.
Advice to Senior Management – Your profit margins may be better but the culture has been destroyed and I would pose that this has fundamentally weakened the company for it's long term future and viability. However, that may be of little concern to the investors who are looking to maximize profits and then bail.

Current Employee – been working at Mspark
Pros – Pay is fair. Casual dress and atmosphere. Office is nice. Software is up to date and computers are very good.
Cons – Middle management micromanages every part of the art department. There isn't room for career advancement. Information is horded by managers. "Busy work". Pay raises are low. Good work is not rewarded. There is low worker morale.
Advice to Senior Management – Do not treat your workers like children. Set out a career path where your artists can get more responsibility and more skills and advance in their careers.

Pros – You get to play on the internet sometimes. PTO is great compared to some places, you can roll over up to 1 week a year. We have an exercise facility. You can decorate your cube however you want.
Cons – Pay is really low with the amount of money and responsibilities that are delegated to you. You have homework that doesn't apply to anything you have to do at work. You have to take notes at meetings and they might be reviewed by management. Unfair promotions, they would rather hire people from the outside.
Advice to Senior Management – Just recognize what we are worth. Stop treating us like children. We don't want "pizza parties" we want raises and bonuses!

Pros – Great Environment, Inspiring Leadership - The senior management all are very competent and genuinely care about the employees of the organization. The environment is professional but very down to earth. Family-oriented atmosphere.
Cons – Uninspiring Industry - There's just not a lot to get excited about although the company is becoming very dynamic and recognizes that it needs to adapt to the changing landscape of print media.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep moving toward digital to make it over the coming hump in print media. The insurance plan could be a bit better given the size of the organization.
