Great learning experience

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Gurgaon, Haryana (India)

I have been working at NIIT full-time for more than 8 years

ProsNIIT provides a great learning environment. Almost all people swear by the learning they received while working for NIIT.
Open culture enables people to approach all levels of management.
Fun loving people and environment, parties, outings, bonding with colleagues
Generally a good flexible working environment. People make adjustments to special needs colleagues.

ConsTends to be bureaucratic and hierarchical, everything needs approval.
Not able to convert great ideas into actions. Needs to be more nibble footed in moving ahead with actions.

Advice to Senior ManagementCould do with more empowerment to people at each level. Figure out a way to get out of bureaucratic culture.

Contract Trainer Nightmare- HDS Trainer

HDS Contract Trainer for HDS Education (Former Employee)
Washington, DC (US)

I worked at NIIT as a contractor for less than a year

ProsWork with HDS Education and lab use. Train customers and partners in HDS technology.

ConsLast minute changes that cost you as a contract trainer. NIIT bill rate was lower than some other vendors. Payment was sporadic and travel subsidy was prorated based on number of days and was very unfavorable for engagements less than five days. Travel rate did not cove last minute airfare and hotel in full. Never mind rental car and other expenses. Also, NIIT has a wealth of H-1B visa trainers so you as a contract trainer were called in only if the H-1B was not available. Basically, a full time trainer with NIIT worked about 12-14 out of the month with luck.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop screwing the trainers on travel. Most of the trainers know you get bonused on keeping expenses travel lower and for using your travel company. Last minute changes on flights kill the profit for the contractor. Using your Indian travel company is frustrating and the cheapest flight almost always wastes a 10-12 hour day on a 5 hour flight.
