Former Employee – worked at Navarre

ProsIn the early days, it was a family atmosphere. Pay was good for the work. Made some good friends while working there. The work was challenging, even during the lean years.

ConsSiloed organization with a rumor mill that is as damaging as the current culture. The organization runs lean and mean, which can be good and bad, but when communication is as bad as it is now, it is tough to understand priorities. There is little or no advancement potential. Hiring practices in recent years seemed to favor hiring to create a culture, not to bring in the best possible person to do the job. Most people walk on eggshells and are legitimately concerned about their futures.

Advice to Senior ManagementCommunication must improve. Remove the rumor mill that alienates staff. Wholesale changes must take place to improve the company culture - it just isn't a fun place to work and considering the business Navarre is in, that is sad. It should be fun.

Current Employee – been working at Navarre

ProsLean staff means having lots of hats to wear, and lots of varied responsibility, and rare (if any) boring days.

ConsSmall organization, so not a lot of room for advancement. Staff is so lean, that it is difficult to take time away, even though the management is supportive of time off.

Advice to Senior ManagementEncourage a positive work environment. Be creative about recognizing/rewarding hard work. Encourage departments and people to solve problems together, and not in a vacuum.
