Brand Intelligence Officer (Current Employee)

I have been working at Nissan full-time for more than a year

ProsYou get very good benefits. It is an international work environment with more than 20 nationalities. Nice and friendly people to work with.

ConsIt is in "Paris" but actually the offices are quite far from the city center. May take long until you get a promotion. Working with the headquarters is Japan is very challenging

A company that has potential to go far, but the employees are so bitter and hateful that success is doomed.

OEM (Current Employee)
Irvine, CA (US)

I have been working at Nissan full-time for more than 5 years

ProsIt's in a great location. It's the Auto business

ConsLONG HOURS (7 AM until 6:30 is typical)
On sales close, you will work until midnight. No exceptions.
Employees hate each other.
Benefits are terrible - especially insurance
high turnover

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in your employees to make them happy. Get rid of the bitter apples. From the secretaries (ESPECIALLY THE SECRETARIES) on up, they are all bitter.

Average job with average people

Temp Clerk (Former Employee)
Irving, TX (US)

I worked at Nissan as a contractor for more than a year

ProsSteady hours, decent pay, mostly-friendly people, not difficult work at all, decent atmosphere

ConsPeter Principle management, takes years to go from Temp hire to full-time, strict no overtime policy, "fun" activities are suitable for elementary-school kids

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen promoting employees, look past tenure and look at potential.

Bad benefits

Manager (Current Employee)

I have been working at Nissan full-time

Pros* Good work life balance.
* Good co-workers.

Cons* Super high deductible health-insurance $2400 for a family, pretty much useless unless you are super sick.
* The vacations and sick days are rolled into one, but not much more than regular vacation days.
* Nissan sets unrealistic expectations for its workforce to avoid paying bonuses. We set records in profitability and sales in FY 2012 YTD, but did not hit our Business Plan (which are not determined by us). Because of this there is super high pressure to juice up the numbers in the short run, sacrificing long term profitability.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your subordinates more.
