Former Employee – worked at Novell full-time
Pros – -Has a long history
-Attachmate Group has been a good thing for the company in making changes for the better, but it will take time
-Working on new product innovation (finally vs. OEMing someone else's product)
-Many fantastic and solid products that can compete with the best ones (need to get past - history & name concerns)
Cons – -Has a long history...many companies view technology as old, outdated, or not relevant.
-Corporate marketplace reluctant to re-consider great products simply due to name
-History of failing to execute - from new product innovation/delivery to marketing
-Not sure if Attachmate Group is 3 years too late in this turn around (I hope it turns around, but still has a ways to go)
-Benefits are worse under Attachmate, their plan is not as generous (medical/dental)
-Raises. It's rare to get a raise. (company has been shrinking, so promotions are few and far between)
Advice to Senior Management – Put in place - NEW - marketing and engineering leaders from outside the whole company (never worked at the company type vs ex-employee returning). Need a fresh perspective and let them execute on a plan without too many restrictions.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
