    I worked at Office Depot

    Pros

Excellent store managers, flexible hours, great way to build communication skills, you have to opportunity to talk to people from all walks of life, and you learn to hold handle yourself professionally

    Cons

Low pay for work required, corporate wants so much work to come from someone that is making minimum wage, its retail so some customers are difficult to deal with, way more stress than I would ever want from a part minimum wage job

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice is find some other ways to off set the low pay for company employees. Something to help offset the amount of responsibilities required and client demand

    Pros

    Cons

There has not been as money opportunities for advancement in the business division as had been portrayed or anticipate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give a clear vision and direction. Given the rapidly changing office products industry there had to be leadership. Communicate, communicate, communicate

I worked at Office Depot full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Career advancement, great store teams, livable wage, benefits, development

    Cons

High turnover, no room for local decision making, too much corporate oversight

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to allowing stores and districts to be run more autonomously. Often times managers on the ground have a better feel for the needs of their local customers.

I have been working at Office Depot

    Pros

Great company with fair benefits and pay. Compensated well for results and recognized for outstanding performance. Good work-life balance and overall company culture.

    Cons

The Office Depot / OfficeMax merger has created internal difficulty and required significant training to learn both systems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With over 50,000 employees, there is a lot of knowledge among lower level employers. There should be a way to communicate ideas and for Sr. Management to sort and review information.
