I loved the teachers that I worked with and their way of teaching and disciplining

ProsThe relaxed atmosphere inside most of the classrooms. Much of the learning is child centered and relaxed. The environment is fun and the other teachers are great. It works well for a college job!

ConsSome of the management is very unfriendly and not understanding. They threaten to write you up without understanding other circumstances going on

Study Survival

Office Assistant (Former Employee)
Columbus, OH (US)

I worked at Ohio State University part-time for more than a year

ProsCampus is an exciting place to work. There is always something going on and always some free promotional stuff being given away. There is a friendly atmosphere and you feel like you are a positive addition to the university. The benefits are great. Especially since you can take classes and participate in the activities going on around campus.

ConsDriving around on game days. Dealing with stressed out students during exam periods.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore diversity around campus is always nice to see.

Student Library Aide

Student Library Aide (Former Employee)

I worked at Ohio State University part-time for less than a year

ProsTraining is very thorough. Whenever you have questions you always have someone you can ask for help. Very flexible hours for a student. Great coworkers.

ConsWork can often get boring due to the monotonous repetition of similar questions. During the first week of school you may answer the same "where is the bathroom?" question up to 10 times in a single hour.

Excellent, interesting, and supportive environment for staff.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Columbus, OH (US)

I have been working at Ohio State University full-time for more than 5 years

ProsIt's a great relaxed environment, but not so relaxed that it is boring or non-challenging. Co-workers and other staff members are supportive and friendly and most of the time it just feels like a large family. There seems to always be someone around with just the experience you need to solve a new problem. Things seem to be getting more organized all the time.

ConsPay feels a little under the industry standard. Career advancement opportunities seem limited. More organization also seem to mean more bureaucracy.
