I worked at Old Navy part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

You get discounts to old navy, the gap and banana republic. The music played is upbeat. During big promotions, you usually get a staff tee shirt, which you can then use as a gym shirt later!

    Cons

Hours can vary widely, managers often give the most hours to those who sign up the most people for an Old Navy card, however, if I'm only working 10 hours a week, how am I supposed to get as many opportunities?

I worked at Old Navy part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked for old navy because they had very flexible schedules. It was great because being a college student required time, it was easy to switch schedules with others. The managers were also nice, and if you worked hard they usually noticed and gave you more responsibility and hours. Easy job. I was lucky enough to have great managers, never had a problem.

    Cons

Working with the public and messy clothes, folding, folding and MORE FOLDING!!! Flip-flop days are horrible. You end up just cleaning up customer's mess, and working way past your time off. The company constantly changed their layouts and had to re fold hundreds of pairs of jeans. The pay was Ok..

I have been working at Old Navy

    Pros

Great management staff, flexible hours, fun people.

    Cons

Expected to work lots of hours when store is closed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure all signs are put in the proper place...almost everyone has problems reading what is actually on sale, so they closer to the item the better!

They have a great culture but at the end of the day it's all about the sales for the day, week, month, etc.

I have been working at Old Navy part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I've been working since high school and I am now a college graduate, and my hours have varied from part time to full time, to once a week, one a month even once every 90 days. They are very flexible with hours and I was cross trained in every department which made me a very versatile employee. I have been with the company for 6 years.

    Cons

The pay was never that great up until this summer when they changed the starting rate to $9 which I was already making more than that at the time but because I'd already been working for 5 years. Back in 2008 I was hired at $7.25 and in a span of 5 years am now at $9.79. Now I have a full time job related to my college degree and work once a month at old navy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None, they were always great and I've had at least 5 different store managers ranging from 2 different stores I've worked at.

    Pros

    Pay, fast pace, nothing else

    Cons

Not enough hours, changing schedule, rude employees, harassment, ect.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure to sell those cards because that's all they care about.

I have been working at Old Navy part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

They are very flexible and willing to work with you. I am a college student and Gap inc allows me to transfer back and forth between states. There are no real promotions unless you want to be in a leadership position.

    Cons

You are required to work black Friday. The holiday season can be very stressful but it is part of retail. I have worked for gap inc for 5 years and feel as if they have provided sufficient training for all the positions that my job requires.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is lots of favoritism at both of the stores I work at which bogs down the employee atmosphere.
