I worked at PNC Financial Services Group as an intern

    Pros

I worked at PNC Financial Services Group full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Many repeat customers. Getting to know people well enough that you ask about each other's families.

    Cons

This bank wants to lead the way to promote self service. If you don't sell their products you won't have a job long. They said within a few years, all will have to re-apply for their jobs, and if you haven't been a good salesperson while providing accurate, prompt and friendly service and keeping your drawer balanced, and taking computer based training courses in your "spare moments", you won't have a job at all! High pressure! It's gotten ugly!

High stress and little work/life balance

I have been working at PNC Financial Services Group

    Pros

They offer good training for low-skilled, inexperienced new hires. The facilities are well-equipped.

    Cons

Work life balance very difficult to maintain. Every six months, one's performance is measured and his or her shift could be drastically changed. You might be working half the year from 7am until 3:30pm and the next half year from 1:30pm until 10:00pm. Because of this, and other reasons, there is high turnover. PNC either doesn't care or finds this in it's own best interest.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't preach about how you want us to have a work/life balance and then make it impossible. A 1/2 hour lunch is not enough time for a call center employee to relax a moment and eat in peace. If you truly care about your call center reps, give us reasons to stay and be loyal employees.

You spend a fortune on training all the new hires and neither PNC nor your customers benefit from their lack of experience. Your quality employees often leave for better treatment elsewhere.

I have been working at PNC Financial Services Group full-time

    Pros

Pay, used to be benefits also, not any longer...

    Cons

Leadership took a HUGE downturn when Jim Rohr retired as CEO, quickly and dramatically the local leadership changed in many areas to all east coast managers, no longer a midewest bank with roots that serve the local communities they bank. The culture and values are a very transparent farce.

    Pros

PNC was a great stepping stone for my career, I was able to help with training. If you're a college student in need of a job I would apply to PNC. They also give annual flu shots!

    Cons

At times, the managers didn't do much to boost the over all team morale, a lot of employees were unnoticed.
