Current Employee – been working at Pentaho full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Only the best talent works in our technical departments. Management, all the way to the top, takes great care of the employees and not only requests feedback but acts on it. Growth and life-work balance are encouraged and fostered. The people of Pentaho are friendly, helpful, relaxed, dedicated, and driven. I love everything about working at Pentaho; peers, challenges, opportunities, and more.
Cons – I don't have sole control of the thermostat. (I needed something, right?)
Advice to Senior Management – Keep on listening! You're doing great!!!

Pros – Wonderful people with unsurpassed supportive Management. Interaction with Middle - C-Level Executives is immediate and without restriction. We work with the knowledge that everything we do has a direct effect on the bottom line.
Cons – Monthly sales cycle can be stressful at times, but definitely keeps you on top of your business and making money.

Current Employee – been working at Pentaho full-time for less than a year
Pros – The CEO runs the company very well and the sales VP is a veteran who has seen it all and knows what he is doing. Corporate communication is absolutely fantastic thus far. The people are open, helpful, and pleasant to work with. The culture is about working hard, working smart, and collaborating from what I have seen so far. Lastly, marketing and sales work very collaboratively, as # of leads and # of sales accepted opportunities are measured and are transparent. This team is very well poised for success.
Cons – There is a twenty word minimum here, so I'm going to type this sentence and meet the requirement right now.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the good work. Be sure to pay attention to career development in the coming years.

Current Employee – been working at Pentaho full-time
Pros – Pentaho has advanced software that is the leader in an emerging market. The engineering team and their leadership is innovative and extremely capable. Additionally, all of our execs (engineering, marketing, sales, etc.) are thought leaders and subject matter experts with significant industry experience. Pentaho is truly an amazing place to work.
Cons – We're growing - fast! With that growth comes some pain. The good news is, growing pains are common and are quickly overcome. Pentaho is great at ramping up and employees and making available the tools and processes to ensure we continue to grow as market leaders.

Current Employee – been working at Pentaho full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Opportunity to work in several extremely hot markets including Big Data, Predictive Analytics, and Cloud.
Growing fast, endless career development opportunities.
Competitive pay with fantastic benefits.
Super talented team.
Cons – Being in a highly competitive space makes Pentaho feel more like a startup environment even after 7 years - this environment is best suited for self-starters, folks really passionate about technology and driven to make a difference on a big stage.
Advice to Senior Management – Continue to refine Product and Go-to-market strategies with a goal of narrowing overall focus to a few target strategies.

Current Employee – been working at Pentaho full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Great work environment, control over how to implement your code, fringe benefits, flexible work hours. Highly skilled very technical development team is a pleasure to work with. Responsive managers.
Cons – Can be hectic. Offers little in the way of training. If you want to learn something new you do it yourself on your own time (not supposed to be that way but usually is).
Advice to Senior Management – Implement a carrer progression and training program.

Former Employee – worked at Pentaho full-time
Pros – Developers, support, and services have high salaries. There's a strong tradition of working from home part-time. Most of the workers are great people.
Cons – Way too many projects for the company to manage. It's like spinning plates, and they're all hitting the floor except the one they are spinning this week. Way too many products to manage, too. Supposedly "open source," but they sell software licenses for the few proprietary bits, and make it difficult for the open source users to create and deploy alternatives. The entire management team is a crony club with no training in or aptitude for leadership. The C-level managers swoop in and destroy every sprint team's work, then complain that no one is completing their tasks. Then the whole company goes off-schedule to do an emergency point release for an upset customer. It's complete chaos.
Advice to Senior Management – Fire every manager and hire people who have a proven record of success.

Current Employee – been working at Pentaho full-time for less than a year
Pros – Smart passionate people who are driven and fun to work with.
General company culture is focused, happy and positive.
People are recognized and rewarded for their good work.
Company's in a hot space and doing well.
Cons – Lots of (good) changes happening so some process still needs to be worked out.
Advice to Senior Management – Not much...I think the company is working toward ambitious goals and it's well on its way to achieving them. Keep up the good work and keep communicating with employees.
