Former Employee – worked at Perkins Restaurant and Bakery full-time for more than a year

ProsYou do have the ability to make good money provided that you get good shifts and are willing to work a lot of hours.

ConsThey do put a large number of servers on the floor at one time. If they have one busy night they treat every night like that from that moment on when its clearly not needed.

Advice to Senior ManagementCut down on the amount of servers and you could also save money on labor costs while keeping your employees happy.

ProsGood atmosphere. Easy to keep your job. Relatively easy work. Flexible schedules. Food discounts while working. Not a high pressure environment.

ConsNo real training program. No support for employees wanting to move up in the company. If you already know the job....you are good to go! If you need to be trained...go somewhere else where the employees count and are considered an asset to the company not just a warm body to fill in the scedule gaps.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in your people. Provide a training program for those interested in advancement. Insist that your GM's invest time in hourly and management employees looking to advance their careers. Tell your GM's to be interested in helping everyone, not just the pretty young girls. I currently work for another company and God has blessed me with a very good career where I am positively impacting the growth of my new company. With a little effort I would probably have stayed with your company.

Former Employee – worked at Perkins Restaurant and Bakery part-time for more than a year

ProsI loved my coworkers
The work was easy
Easy to get time off if needed

ConsManagement played favorites to an extreme.
The amount of side work was insane.

Advice to Senior ManagementJust because you don't like someone on a personal level doesn't make them bad at their jobs. If someone is a hard worker, good at what they do, and dependable then they deserve to be treated like it.

Austintown, OH (US)

Former Employee – worked at Perkins Restaurant and Bakery part-time for less than a year

ProsAlmost family like with co-workers and the managers were very understanding. Your schedule was tailored to who wanted work and who needed days off. Very fun and quick, lots of new people to meet and wonderful to start at.

ConsShared drawers always happen so counts would be off. You didn't have a set leave time, but an estimate of when you could stop taking tables. Rude customers and watching people dine-and-dash.

Amherst, NY (US)

Former Employee – worked at Perkins Restaurant and Bakery part-time for more than 3 years

Pros- Servers receive good compensation through tips
- schedule was always very flexible
- relaxed environment when there isn't a rush

Cons- Horribly mis-managed
- Almost always understaffed, especially in the back of the house
- Pay raises were almost non existent, our top employees received 15 cent raises once
- After working at another restaurant it's easy to say this one is poor in comparison

Denver, CO (US)

Current Employee – been working at Perkins Restaurant and Bakery full-time for more than 3 years

ProsFlexible with shifts, decent earning potential. The guests are loyal and iits very easy to pick up regulars.

ConsLots of corporate goals that interfer with guest service. At every table there are 4 menus that are taken out. Constantly try to market to. Guests that simply want a good meal.

Advice to Senior ManagementFind better methods to advertise rather than thrust marketing material on visiting guests
