    Pros

    The discount was okay and there are a lot of talented wonderful people that work for the company.

    Cons

    There is little to no appreciation for employees that work behind the scenes. All of the incentives and accolades go to the sales staff. Upper management was HORRIBLE! They make you do a thousand jobs and nepotism there is heavy. It is a very vein environment so if you don't fit their standard of beauty (blonde hair blue eyed, preferably male) then know you will be spending the rest of your time there being treated as second class. I've been told that if I have an opinion I should keep it to myself by upper management (verbatim). There is extremely high turnover and every time someone would quit or was fired they would take months to replace them leaving the rest of the staff overworked and underpaid. There was little to no advancement within the company especially if you did not fit into the visual status quo.

    Teach your managers how to manage employees properly and how to talk to people. Pay your employees a proper wage. Recognize the talent you have and promote that talent. Thoroughly think things through before you execute them.

    Good discount on RL clothing

    Culture of company is to just repeat what has been done in the past without thought or reasoning behind it. Adding value to the company is just not possible with current leadership. A few good people carry the weight of everyone else with no reward while the only way to get promoted is to either quit/have them think you are at risk, have some kind of nervous breakdown, or be close friends with the right people.

    Give bonuses to all levels (not just Sr. Directors), let people really develop and rotate (if you are too valuable they will force you to stay in that role forever), see the writing on the wall and embrace change

    Pros

    Great employee discount 50% on 4 items each month, and 30% on everything else. Good atmosphere for young people.

    Cons

    No commission, or incentives to make sales. Depending on management, you may be treated like a child or quite frankly just another number.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Treat employees like adults. Use better training for employees. Training videos are outdated and corny. Compensation could be increased a little bit.

    compensation was all over the place. as the assistant manager of hr it was very easy to determine other managers pay. my salary was far less than others in the same position. I asked for fair compensation several times and was told no.

    Opportunity to learn many systems / software (PDM, Sourcing 2000, etc.)

    Cons

    Cliques are the key here. The more higher ups you know the better your chances of advancing. If you kiss up to your direct upper management you will stay employed even if you have no idea of what you are doing. Its no wonder the Rugby brand no longer exists. Many are pretentious and unfriendly.

    Pros

    The employee discount on merchandise is generous. Every month associates can purchase up to 5 items of their choice at 50% off , as part of their personal wardrobe. The hours are flexible, and the atmosphere is friendly. Training is provided, even for the inexperienced, as long as you embody good customer service skills and behaviors, this retail gig is easy.

    Cons

    Benchmarking associates is just a term they use when they deliver performance appraisals. When it comes time to fill internal positions, most often they hire external candidates. General managers don't mentor the ASM team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    General managers should trust and allow their ASMs to run their specific departments as smaller units of a store. Lead by example by working side by side with them, rather than riding on the ASM team's contribution. This consistent behavior will change the negative office culture and the store's depressing morale into a positive environment built on trust and collaboration.

    Pros

    General retail sales environment. Stock process is fairly efficient and allows for expedient inventory flow. Quick on boarding and recently renovated PoS.

    Cons

    Inefficient scheduling and hypersensitivity to the possibility of overtime. Commonly schedules employees for 4 hours shifts at a time, and generally schedules have 5-7 days a week. Lunch breaks were a common deterrent for management to give employee's proper shift durations.

    Confer with trusted employees and better manage the schedule. Help employee's maintain a good work life balance.

    Pros

    Strong brand recognition, casual work environment, great people for the most part, great benefits, ok annual raises (at least we get one), job security -- this brand isn't going anywhere. On site training to further development provided (Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Acess Classes, Time Management, Business Writing, Etc.)

    Cons

    Pay is ok, very difficult to move up -- blurry lines on what it takes to move up. Wish there were more corporate offices.
