I have been working at Polo Ralph Lauren full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    1 hour unpaid lunch break

    Cons

19k after taxes, terrible managment, the hours were from 10-7, stressful, no room for growth, expected to purchase clothes from Ralph Lauren and wear at all times despite not being given an allowance or any type of assistance. Desperate for new employees and will hire the most unqualified people to work there. Management favors the top seller in the store and will treat everyone else poorly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please hire 16-18 year old teenagers because these are the only type of people who can afford to make such little being a sales associate.

    A robot factory

I worked at Polo Ralph Lauren

    Pros

They feed you good. Free coffee; and they trust you to pay for your own snakes. Vendors outside so you don't have to go out

    Cons

Worst place ever; treated everybody like robots. Not human there especially during Christmas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be so hard on the temporaries, they are human to. Don't be quick to fire temporaries and during Christmas season don't work everyone until they can't stay anymore.

I worked at Polo Ralph Lauren full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Nationally know fashion store with spectacular products. Well respected by people who are not aware of the atmosphere behind the scenes.

    Cons

Poor leadership, lack of support, and discrimination runs rampant in the stores. Upper management doesn't care or doesn't believe the employees. But then doing only 1-2 store visits per year is no way to really see what's going on. Store directors harass, bully, and discriminated against employees. She also tried to inflict religious beliefs and made life miserable for you if you were not on the same side politically.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a higher awareness of the day to day activity in the stores. Just blindly believing the store director is a horrible and irresponsible practice. When I brought the harassment and the fact that I was being bullied at work to the regional manager, she told the store director and I was in even more hot water and my life was a living hell. Dumb!

I worked at Polo Ralph Lauren full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great training and development. Excellent benefits. Excellent growth within company. Having Ralph Lauren on your resume opens the door to countless opportunities well outside the company and fashion world.

    Cons

TERRIBLE compensation (although benefits were a plus). Be prepared to give your entire life to the company. Hours are horrendous and company expects you to drop everything for them at all times. Managers instantly develop a superiority complex and are very demeaning - think they are God - and they favor gay men.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Retail Management needs to set an example of a friendly and inviting atmosphere leading by example rather than with a superior and rude attitude. They not only need to treat the customers in such a manner, but they need to treat their staff with respect which would only promote increased productivity.
