Current Employee – been working at Rackspace full-time for more than 7 years

Pros – Rackspace is fun and has several excellent perks. This is the only job I have ever worked for at over 5 years and I still enjoy coming in to work. The highest leaders such as Directors, VPs, the CEO, the President of the company, and the chairman of the board are all incredible people.

Cons – Some departments may have poorer upper management than others. These particular departments tend to hire or promote team leads that they feel bond with them on a personal level. If they feel that they can socialize with a person outside of work, yet they also meet some qualifications of the job, they will be more highly considered for employment into lower level leadership (team lead positions). Knowledge of the job itself isn't considered as important as the ability to interact well with senior managers.

Advice to Senior Management – Allow employees to express issues that affect them without reprimanding them and deeming them as "negative" when they have legitimate concerns. Many times, there are issues that affect customers and business but when an employee attempts to speak up about the issues, upper management (in this particular department) takes offense and either writes up the employee, which then scares them into transferring to a different department; or they terminate them. Several very tenured and experienced employees transfer away to different departments due to this. I cannot speak for every department and will not mention which department this issue correlates to, but unfortunately it is an issue that multiple people notice.

Pros – Friends and Family Culture is the heart. Dedicated to doing great things and innovation is never frowned upon - it is encouraged. Perfect personal/work life balance. Great atmosphere. Brilliant people. Doesn't get much better.

Cons – I cant complain - I am very satisfied with Rackspace.

Pros – Great company culture, great people to work with, enjoyable working environment.

Cons – Salary is low compared to market average.

Pros – Great Company Culture, benefits, people.

Cons – From a Datacenter perspective - Work life balance is very questionable, VERY slow growth opportunity , the PAY is on the low side compared to other competitors like Amazon ( which a lot of employees have switched to and are looking to switch to now) and Promotions are hard to come by .

Advice to Senior Management – Get in line with other competitors and raise the pay scales and develop a clear promotion program .

Cons – Rapid changing organization. Loads of changes

Advice to Senior Management – not everyone is fast to deal with change.

Pros – Great salary, work with people who are passionate about cloud computing and technology. Bonuses and profit sharing. They provide food, un events, good benefits.

Cons – If you are not a geek, you will have hard time in IT department. This company is all about Fanatical Support!! if you are not passionate you can't survive. Also, you have to keep up with your A game, because there is always some politics.

Advice to Senior Management – Created a great work culture. But I wish management could look at employees without getting into politics.

Pros – Fast growing company that truly supports and encouraging employee growth. Every single individual in a company with over 1000 UK employees are awesome to work with.

Cons – changes can take a while to come into effect due to company size and changes processes.

Advice to Senior Management – Improve the change processes. Perhaps have a change board for internal processes.

Pros – Rackspace is a wonderful company to work for, and the benefits are great. I enjoy having an on-site gym and a plethora of food vendors to choose from on food truck days. I've heard the benefits aren't quite as nice in Austin, but it's still an awesome place to work! I love having a coffee shop and creative design team behind the San Antonio office.

Cons – I've heard the Austin office doesn't get quite the same amount of benefits as the San Antonio office which is a downside for people who work out of that office. The salary ranges are fairly massive, and it can be difficult to move around within that range. It seems increases in pay while keeping the same position can be hard to come by.

Advice to Senior Management – Hold true to the core value of transparency as it seems it is sometimes avoided.

Pros – A great drive to improve; Really cares about employee engagement; Truly follows its core values; Works hard, plays hard; There are some really supportive people here that will do whatever is in their power to see you on the right path

Cons – Your working location has a huge effect on the treatment by the local-level management; these bad eggs are few and far between however
