I worked at Ross Stores part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great coworkers, discounts, and rewards.

    Cons

Pay is minimum wage and raises are extremely low. Part-time hours are usually between 15-20 hours a week. Management is constantly changing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

An increase in pay to certain positions, especially those that are more goal oriented and physically demanding would give employees the incentive to work harder and could have a positive impact on turnover rates.

I have been working at Ross Stores

    Pros

some associates, something to do, discounts,

    Cons

    dont pay enough, managers, supervisors

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just because someone doesn't have the experience doesn't mean that can't catch on quickly. There are some people that learn much quicker than others that are there to do their job and to move up in rank. Learn ow to give thee people a chance.

I worked at Ross Stores part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Store Manager was really nice, very flexible with schedule, and a good discount. Good training as well.

    Cons

Hours. Everyone is on Part-Time. If you're older (I'm 27) you end up working with a lot of 18-19 year old kids who literally couldn't care less about their jobs. They would tell me to do things incorrectly (while training) and just sit around while I worked my butt off. There wasn't much room for advancement it seemed like. Some of the employees were very bad at customer service and that was hard to watch.

It's not a good job if you have actual bills to pay and aren't still living with your parents. It's minimum wage and 10 MAYBE 15 hours a week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep a better eye on the younger employees. Not to be discriminatory, but when being young (and I've been there) you don't really care about your job security as much. You just think about fun and clocking in and out. A lot of the kids there weren't doing the job correctly and that was frustrating.

I have been working at Ross Stores part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Working at Ross with Associates and Management that treat you with respect while working fast and efficiently

    Cons

Part-time work is not enough hours to live on and make ends meet year round.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tell corporate that when hiring associates for part-time which is at least 20-30 hours a week then that's the hours that should be given; not 10-15 hours a week. It's misleading and not fair to employees.
