    Pros

Prices are the best! If you work hard they promote you quick, you have the chance to work indepently with minimum supervision.

    Cons

Extended hours around holidays like Christmas time, Memorial Day etc. shifts are not the most convenient but with a little bit of patient you will overcome situations like that.

    Pros

The managers are great to work with and easy to talk to. They are flexible with the schedule if you have school that interferes with work.

    Cons

The place is always a mess and it is impossible to keep up with maintaining cleanliness. There really isn't any moment of the day when it isn't busy so you are working at 100mph all day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more employees on weekends when the store gets super busy and chaotic.

I have been working at Ross Stores part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The people at my store are all pretty nice, plus I work in a huge and super busy Ross so there isn't a lot of opportunity to get frustrated with your co-workers for lack of work ethic because it's really hard to pay much attention to anyone else's work. I have super nice and accommodating managers. Ross associates get a 20% discount on almost all merchandise at any Ross location except for jewelry and some other things. There are also Double Discount Days (4 days at a time) 4 times per year. I'm only part-time so I don't know about the other benefits. We have "TRUE Cards" which are a way of recognizing associates for the good work they do. I am generally happy with this job because it's easy and the employees in my store all seem to care about each other, at least by recognizing them as fellow human beings (very high standards, I know).

    Cons

My only real complaint is that I find the job to be pretty boring and monotonous so it can be mind-numbing on longer shifts. Also, at my store we have some really great front-end supervisors and then some not so great ones who don't keep on top of breaks (causing you to go to break late) or respond to the needs of their cashiers in a timely manner, which is frustrating when there is a long line and the customers are blaming YOU for not helping them when you have to wait for an FES before you can do anything.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to how effective your FESs because they can have a large impact on the line!

I have been working at Ross Stores part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Most employees are great to work with. Can usually get management to work with your schedule if you are a student or have another job. Fast paced, so days go quickly.

    Cons

Management can be hit or miss. Extremely rude customers, and typically long lines. Really strict payroll so you will often find your store under staffed and having to do more work than usual.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ease up on payroll to improve Customer Service within stores.
