I have been working at SITA full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Looks good on the C.V. and currently they pay health insurance in some territories.
Great exposure to international teams and a very diverse set of skills (line management and customer facing members).
Initial pay is good but better negotiate hard on day one because you will quickly become a number when it comes to review in yr 2 and beyond

    Cons

If you are aligned with the little clique that seems to do no wrong and suffer no consequence of outrageously inward looking and self ingratiating policies you will do well.
You will occasionally come across true professionals who care about solutions and the people in their care, but this will be increasingly rare.
A staggering ability to embark upon organizational change every 12mths and then abort half way through leaving whole groups without the people they need and no way to hire due to a headcount freeze from GVA.
A HR system that is totally ineffectual and makes no effort to retain talent.
Senior managers with no experience in the fields they manage.
Get in and out while this dinosaur still survives as the pay and accountability around performance is poorly managed.
Invisible CEO unless you are based in Europe

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Walk the floor, be accountable and transparent, ...just start again with the HR department.
If you promise to do something like improve tools and policies then follow through and get out of the ivory silos and walk amongst the enormous pool of talent you already have.
Compliance is not commitment, think what is the problem to solve not what is the box to tick.

I worked at SITA part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Small knit organization at the Long Island Site, intimate settings, people are friendly. Once a month PIZZA, Friday Bagel days. There is a great work life balance, per being able to get things done if need be in the time of an emergency. Flexible work hours.

    Cons

Not the work environment for you if you get offended easily. Lacks diversity, predominantly men. Can be cliche per groups who work with each other, despite the fact the building is small, everyone does not know everyone, able to put a face to a name.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The politics of promotions, salaries, high and fire need to be a little more discreet.

    Pros

Unique in it's products and seeks excellence in it's services to the world airline industry.

    Cons

The Finance Function, is unfortunately, not in line with the rest of SITA functions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advise to the Finance Senior Management to halt the micro management and pay more attention to more important things.

I have been working at SITA full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

If you get onto the right project it is a fantastic place to learn, paid education if you will. If your even luckier again and get into one of the clique teams then your socializing habits and alcohol tolerance will go through the roof! Salary is good to start off with if you come in at a good rate but don't expect it to change...ever.

Management reward talent with promotions, the only problem is that talent means somebody 'in the clique'. Nepotism is rife in some offices.

You'll get to do a bit of travel along the way if you like that sort of thing.

    Cons

Management are 10 years behind the curve. Senior development, architecture and hr managers are in bed with each other...literally. If you don't comply to their archaic methods your a lost soul.

General atmosphere in most offices is that of dissatisfaction. Any good people leave and are replaced by juniors/grads/contractors who in turn leave when they figure the place out and the cycle continues.

Alcohol abuse is rife in one office in particular.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit, those that don't should be sacked.

    Pros

    Many learning opportunities.
Benefits and pay are good especially vacation and bonuses.

    Cons

Competency and vision is not retained. Many of the best people move on to opportunities elsewhere as they see the corporate trend to outsource as much as possible.

    Pros

Excellent benefits: Medical, pension, leave, performance bonus, individual growth and career development programs are a definite plus point for any employee. Pleasant working environment.

    Cons

Personal career growth can be a problem in smaller SITA locations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employee rewards program should apply to all staff from all levels, even contractors who are employed by SITA for a number of years.

    Pros

It's an international company and I am looking forward to progress in this company to have a better career

    Cons

The challenges of working here that some of the configurations for servers or routers are centrally managed and we cannot make any changes as they are managed by a remote team.

I have been working at SITA full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Big brand within the aviation industry which is really the only positive about it.

    Cons

Management are arrogant and have no regards to their teams. They stick together and cover each other's weaknesses rather than being honest and acting according to the truth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to lower your egos and look around you as to which of your peers is letting down the group as well as the brand rather than covering their mistakes which eventually means losing good people in the process. They need to support what they believe is the truth even if it concerns your peers being in the wrong. You want a group of good managers at the top who care about their staff rather than their own egos as this will promote motivation within your team and will yield better results in the end.

HR also need to learn to stop protecting their bad eggs in the group as this does not help the brand's image. They need to follow what is right as a HR department should be doing as team members are as important as their management team if not more for the future of the brand.

Plenty of politics and good players of the politics game.
