I have been working at SITA full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Looks good on the C.V. and currently they pay health insurance in some territories.
Great exposure to international teams and a very diverse set of skills (line management and customer facing members).
Initial pay is good but better negotiate hard on day one because you will quickly become a number when it comes to review in yr 2 and beyond

    Cons

If you are aligned with the little clique that seems to do no wrong and suffer no consequence of outrageously inward looking and self ingratiating policies you will do well.
You will occasionally come across true professionals who care about solutions and the people in their care, but this will be increasingly rare.
A staggering ability to embark upon organizational change every 12mths and then abort half way through leaving whole groups without the people they need and no way to hire due to a headcount freeze from GVA.
A HR system that is totally ineffectual and makes no effort to retain talent.
Senior managers with no experience in the fields they manage.
Get in and out while this dinosaur still survives as the pay and accountability around performance is poorly managed.
Invisible CEO unless you are based in Europe

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Walk the floor, be accountable and transparent, ...just start again with the HR department.
If you promise to do something like improve tools and policies then follow through and get out of the ivory silos and walk amongst the enormous pool of talent you already have.
Compliance is not commitment, think what is the problem to solve not what is the box to tick.

    - Interesting Industry
    - Try to move forward with new technology

    Cons

    - If the HR like you and if you are kind with them they'll help you... if not you know the exit

I have been working at SITA

    Pros

    Friendly environment among local colleagues

    Cons

Experience, hard work and dedication are not appreciated- you need to please your boss regardless of your principles to get a raise or praise
HR are given way too much weight for their worth and role- you need to be nice to them to get what you want! So much for professionalism!
Management lives on Mars.. They don't give two hoots about what is happening in the organization- they need to report good figures to the board so they secure their bonuses- even if it means manipulating numbers!
Outsourcing is a terrible idea... Everyone knows it but no one dares say it! SITA has employed the worst outsourcing company but they keep paying them galactic amounts for a lousy service.. Makes you think who's behind it.
E-learning is a joke and we all know it.. Just a nice facade and a show.. No ore.
Policies can't be trusted.. They will be twisted to suit management purposes in a blink
Your opportunity to progress and develop lies in the hands of your boss... If they like you you will be supported..if you dare think differently they will block your progress no matter how good you are.
In short, wag a tail. You'll be good. Dare speak and the wrath of pleasers and HR will fall upon you

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop lying to people and be courageous enough to do the right thing. You are not only detaching from those who are working hard but creating too many armies each fighting in a different direction... All to serve your purposes. What a shame!

I have been working at SITA full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Very few. Generally not muchbreal pressure as any decision is mulled over for a long time by many people.

    Cons

    Location (in the UK)
    Office atmosphere
Lack of clear strategy (and understanding of strategy as a concept)
Management lacking basic skills and training
    Micromanagement
    Little development

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Strong rethink is needed of SITA's current state and how that ll fare in future.

Reduce the levels of hierachi and some management which prohibits success rather than aiding it.

I have been working at SITA full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are good at what you do, you get acknowledged. Pay is good. Good learning place when it comes to deal with chaos, stress and misalignment, you learn to come up with solutions.

    Cons

Too much bureaucracy . Lack of proper headcount assessment in almost all dept. Leadership seems unaware or turns a blind eye on that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the feedback of your people. Don't just put it in your "operational meetings" to make it seem as if you are actually working on it because many of the issues are years old.

I worked at SITA full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

SITA is a key player in the Air Transport Industry, this is an very technically broad environment that offers a variety of challenges. They are an innovator in some key areas but are not fully leveraging their capabilities. They offer a good work-life balance, and decent opportunities (though these may be influenced by geographical region). Management is supportive but focused more intently on foreign markets, at least at the point in time (2010) that I left the company.

    Cons

The Air Transport Industry is evolving and in recent years the growth has been in off-shore emerging markets in contrast to North America which is a rather mature market. This means that opportunities may be reduced for N. American employees. This is a reality, not a negative in regard to SITA. Compensation was Fair to Attractive with a reasonable bonus plan. Benefits are average/typical and Company Values are good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in North America as new technologies bring new opportunities, even in mature markets. Otherwise, keep providing a good workplace with strong ethics and an interesting work environment.
