I have been working at Schneider Electric full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

A truly global company with great diversity. Great to work with people collaboratively within an organisation clearly intentioned on making Planet Earth a better place for all to work and live. I have a great work life balance, work with a committed group of professionals and believe career prospects are there should I desire.

    Cons

A classic matrix organisation that has grown quickly through acquisitions. SE offers up many challenges of working effectively on a large scale in many countries across a broad offering of products and services. Some would argue this makes it more interesting....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in the technology and tools to support people in delivering their objectives. Hold people accountable for their output and within their allocated budgets but empower them to operate within that framework.

I worked at Schneider Electric full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Diverse range of products and services
    Large Global perspective
    Some interesting technology
    Some very talented people

    Cons

Dysfunctional Global organisation that has spent more time acquiring businesses than building them
Local management that seem to go out of their way in finding ways to disregard the global position on anything
Lack of cohesive management or budgetary structure , highly fragmented and combative.
Aggressive boys club running the show which leads to some very strange decisions when they are looking after their mates! Certainly not a progressive open local management culture.
Lip service given to improving employee morale but in a culture that actively underpays on the market rate, often treats employees with contempt, has only just started to invest in new offices that don't look like a 3rd world country.
Management and HR systems often don't work or take so long to launch that they are superseded.
Finance runs the show and has way too much influence on day to day, a positive culture very quickly gives way to numbers and permanent cost reduction and penny pinching for anybody who doesn't sport the title of VP and above.

I have been working at Schneider Electric full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

A great company that offers a lot to its people - great social committees; great training offered. The people are truly what makes the organisation.

    Cons

Change and transformation is coming which is great but for some the changes may not come quickly enough!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work life balance is there! It is not about the hours you do more so the output of what you deliver! Company values are very strong and run throughout the business despite growing predominantly from acquisition. Senior Management are strong business leaders however could perhaps at times drive more accountability throughout their respective businesses.

I worked at Schneider Electric full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Get to understand different aspects of a business such as sales, marketing, product management, engineering etc from one job

    Cons

SInce there are many senior managers, there is an inherent game of politics that need to be played to get things done/approved

I have been working at Schneider Electric full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Steady work, ok resources, much depends upon your job role as to how good/ bad the company is, much like other places

    Cons

not very transparent to employees on company methods, HR has trouble with basic HR functions, but getting better due to newly introduced online services. Company is very very slow to react to market changes for products. Like many places - internal processes and certain bottlenecks limit company productivity majorly. In general many good people, good to work with, some processes need to be refined, etc

Former Contractor - Project Engineer in Brisbane

I worked at Schneider Electric as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Well on the good side, specially at current market, here can provide a secure job.
If you have a job at Schneider you can expect to work there until the last day of your contract without being concern of getting redundant.

    Cons

The compensation is far less than market normal.
If you are looking for one of those workplace that put the employee first, then do not come to Schneider. They do not respect their employees in anyway!
No Training, no internal opportunity, it is all there but not for everyone.

CEO's is acquiring the right companies but need to think through the after the purchase.

    Cons

We use to be a very agile and aggressive . We have become large and indecisive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the middle management layer that is adding a cost and not adding any value.
