    Good company while it lasted

Electrical Engineer II (Former Employee) Stoughton, MA (US)

ProsLarge company with lots of opportunity for those who like to travel. The exposure to subject matter experts is incredible so there will never be a technical question left open. I worked for Shaw for 6+ years and really enjoyed my co-workers and the overall experience.

ConsThe company is made up of multiple satellite engineering offices and the distribution of projects and, by default, exposure to new engineering opportunity became less and less evenly distributed across those offices despite relevant experience and competencies. The down side to not being willing to travel and not being located at engineering headquarters.

Good first job out of school

Mechanical Engineer (Former Employee) Charlotte, NC (US)

ProsThe projects were enjoyable. Office location in downtown was great. Coworkers were fine to work with. Being a large company the benefits and initial compensation were OK.

ConsWork opportunities shifted to the worksite (SC, GA) and compensation for relocation was uncertain. Promotions and advancement were slow to come by which drove many employees to other companies.

Advice to Senior ManagementRecognize the value of the 'producers' and do a better job promoting from within to help with retention.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
