Pros – Sikorsky is under the UTC (united Technology Umbrella) which means you could conceivefully work for other divisions. Financially the company is well managed. Sikorsky appears to have a bright future.

Current Employee – been working at Sikorsky full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Product is second to none.
The Engineering organization has some of the best talent in industry at the top.
Cons – Compensation is far below market rate.
Talent development isn't there.
Advice to Senior Management – The compensation issue needs to be addressed. Attrition has been significant in the time i've been with the company and that is even with a recession going on.

Current Employee – been working at Sikorsky full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – The pay was pretty decent, the raises were progressive, very different from the other companies that I have worked for.

Former Employee – worked at Sikorsky full-time for more than a year
Pros – Always learning - fast-paced environment with a ton of very educated people with a wide variety of backgrounds
Never boring - always challenged with new obstacles, new ideas for improvement, constantly trying to better the product or the process (which for me was a great environment to work in)
Some staff are very open-minded, willing to listen to ideas if you back them up, and ready to give you a chance to run with a project
Values their employees and provides benefits and independence
Cons – Very demanding! Which can also be a pro
Union culture in some parts of the shop can be a challenge for industrial engineers/management trying to make a difference but that happens in a lot of manufacturing environments (this actually can go in the pros as well because it challenges the management's communication skills and can foster a great working relationship out of that challenge between the shop floor and the engineering/management teams)
It can be hard to move up/advance, and the management changes very regularly. The constant restructurting can be difficult to handle when so much depends on the hierarchy in the company.
Advice to Senior Management – Use the hierarchy to your advantage rather than as a way to inhibit productivity
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
