Current Employee – been working at Spectra Energy as a contractor for less than a year

Pros – Like everyone else said.. Work life balance. I"m a contractor and they go way out of their way to not treat me like one. I like the group I'm in, I have an excellent manager.

Cons – I haven't really found the dark side yet. There seems to be a lot of silo-ing going on, with one piece of the business not knowing what the others are doing, but you find that everywhere.

Advice to Senior Management – Allow your lower level management to do their job. They're smart people.

Cons – Pay is not at market, not much room for growth

Pros – Excellent work life balance - 9/80, teleworking and part-time work.
Health - there is a Nurse Practitioner on site and a clinic with two beds and nursing rooms. There is also a gym on sit
Leaders - trustworthy and highly competent.
Mid to Upper-level Management - usually leaves little to be desired.
Great benefits - three weeks vacation immediately; 401(k) matching, pension and bonus.
The company is always seeking to improve and always puts their employees first.

Cons – Salary is okay.
Little room for growth.

Pros – Nothing really. Outdated management, old facilities

Cons – Poor knowledge, bad irrelevant and outdated questions

Advice to Senior Management – Quit so the company can move on

Pros – Focus on building leadership skills. Very stable. Upper management cares about employees. You will not feel you are just a number. Your voice will be heard.

Cons – Technical training is limited. Less career advancement. Job rotation only occurs on the top (e.g., Director or VP above), not to the low or middle level.

Advice to Senior Management – Spend more money on the technical training for the employees who want to improve or expand their career. Create more job rotation (for low or middle level employees) to broad the employees' skills set if you cannot promote the employee; this is the least the company can or should do.

Cons – Read all the other posts, I was amazed how true they are across entire company.
In the field there is no work life balance at all.

Cons – -Too much politics
-No room to speak up
-No rotation opportunities if you are NOT satisfied your manager
-Incompetent management team
-Unfair treatment in every group
-Management team not transparent for most of the decision making process
-Team members are not competent, no working ethics, no integrities.

Advice to Senior Management – -Treat people fairly
-Give key personnel more recognition
-Hire competent people all through the company, especially at high profile positions
-Get raid of lazy folks
