    Great culture and strong values. No matter what section of the business you work in, people at Stryker very motivated to achieve. You will be fully supported in making the most of your strengths and will learn a lot. A great place to develop your career.

    Pros

    Conveniently placed office near restaurants
    Internal gym
    Clean offices

    Cons

    Sydney office is a boys club unfortunately where 'anything but' is often excluded. Unfortunately also heard many derogatory comments about others based on who they are - very unprofessional.
    Heard manager tell another staff member publicly that 'you dont fit in here at Stryker'
    Success often depends on how good you are on the football field...just ridiculous.
    Training is poor and my manager would take credit for others work and not waste any time apportioning blame.
    Behaviour is frequently unprofessional.
    A lot of favouratism is shown towards the people with the biggest biceps.
    Turnover is extremely high with extremely poor morale.
    Quite common to see people not work out because of poor guidance and communication - also a culture that allows managers to blame their new starters for 'not being right for Stryker when in fact the manager isnt doing the right thing.
    Unfortunately had something said by my manager (will not share as it is personal and will identify me) which was the most unprofessional - and insulting thing I have ever heard.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    My team has extremely poor morale - rather than band aid solutions you should consider what is causing this from a human resources perspective and stop showing favouratism to people who are trouble makers - there is so much unhappiness because some people are getting away with very unprofessional behaviour that is not appropriate to a modern workforce. Remember that trouble makers cost you a lot of money and that poor reputation in local market follows.

    Gallup need to go
    some leadership people been there too long and get all glory of others work. Company do not encourage internal promotion.

    Pros

    A very high paced competitive environment that pushes everyone to work really hard. There is a sense of pride and community at Stryker. A few more great things Stryker offers are Tuition Reimbursement, Good benefits, Free Gym, competitive salaries.

    Cons

    The interview process can be extremely long(4-6 interviewers) and the Gallup is weighted too much in selecting a candidate.

    Many of the constant one on one meetings with managers can be counter productive and repetitive. Keep working with employees to establish communicated objectives and goals.

    Pros

    Great place to work with like minded people, who share the same general work styles, thanks to the interview process.The focus on engagement and development is unlike most other companies. Your Manager actually wants to talk about what you do next, and will help you to connect to mentors and work on projects that will get you there. Outside of the highly motivated, competitive employees and day-to-day work style, Stryker takes the time to have fun. Basketball tournaments, volunteer events, massages at work, on-site fitness teams and consultants, Stryker cares about you.

    Cons

    People at Stryker believe in doing whatever it takes to follow through on promises, this means that there are times when long work days/weeks will come up. People who are willing to work for more than just money, but what the company believes in and a great motivation are a must. Stryker is also very decentralized, which can make cause for some inconsistency between divisions, luckily Corporate does a pretty good job of making sure this isn't destructive to the overall Stryker Culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Continue to work on Remote Working / Work from Home options across the board. This is something that would further encourage people to engage in the long work days, in order to get the work done.

    Overall getting work done is more important than being at your desk from 8:00 - 5:00. Sometimes people get too worried in how things look, as opposed to what they really are.

    High achiever environment, plenty of opportunities, great people to work with and products that have market leadership in many fields which makes it more it interesting to work with

    - Work hard - play hard culture.
    - Pay for performance.
    - Lots of opportunities for professionals to stretch themselves and grow.
    - Plenty of autonomy and responsibility early in your career . . . if you prove yourself.
    - The chance to work on products that have a significant positive impact on society.
    - Awesome people!

    Cons

    - This is an environment for A players who want to better their game. Anyone who doesn't have that intensity gets run over (this is only a con for sub-A players).
    - Stryker's talent management tools for hiring and development, while extremely effective, are intimidating to the uninitiated.
    - Interviewing and hiring process can be daunting and long.
    - Compensation is only industry average, even for high performers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Our people are everything!!! A players want to work with other A players! Stick to your guns on aggressive talent selecting and management, but streamline the hiring process. Hire great candidates strategically so we don't lose them, and then find the right home for them.
