I have been working at Subway part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The staff I work with are friendly and most provide excellent training. The work is easy and time tends to fly by, especially when it's busy. I work both day shifts and closing shifts and will soon be offered the responsibility to open the store. Pay is decent, at $18/hr (I'm 20).

    Cons

Some job responsibilities can be difficult to grasp at first, especially if you haven't received top-quality training. Some customers can be rude and will blame you for issues outside of your control. You may have to work with people you don't like. Whether or not your work/life balance is good depends entirely on how lenient your manager is.

We also throw out so much food, including 30-60 loaves of perfectly edible bread each day, which makes me feel really awful and wasteful. Apparently, it's against company policy to donate any of the leftover food.

    I worked at Subway

    Pros

This was my first leadership role so I thank subway for the opportunity. Got one free subway per shift.
high management would often come in to check the hygiene of the shop, and to ensure all food was kept safe for people to eat. Very strict rules.
Flexible timetable, was able to work less shifts or pick up more shifts if I wanted to.

    Cons

No employee in my shop was on full time rates. We were always left as casual which meant we never received any benefits like sick leave and holiday pay.

I worked at Subway part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good skills in hospitality, people were pleasant and clean environment. Learned how to make coffee using machine, and make nice sandwiches and wraps.

Perks include 50% off any purchases made by workers, and the store manager was nice and allowed us to consume as many cookies as we liked.
    Good pay.

    Cons

Closing down shop after a day's work takes longer than anticipated.
When i first started I was always put on register as I worked during peak times so it was too busy to place me anywhere else otherwise I'd slow down the line. In this way, it was hard for me to improve in sub-making skills, so when you start it is best to work during non peak hours.

I worked at Subway full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The tagline is true - Subway food is very fresh and methods of preparation and food storage are second to none. All the food you create is clean and it teaches you how to prep food carefully if you're pursuing a job in hospitality.

    Cons

Petty office culture - managers have people they like and people they dont. If I ever made friends with an employee the roster would be changed so I never worked with them. The harder you work the more inconvenient it becomes - was rewarded with hard work by covering shifts people didn't want to do - Saturday Nights then Sunday Mornings. Had to get out of there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your staff with respect and allow them to enjoy their jobs whilst delivering good customer service. Don't punish an employee for being loyal and working hard.

I have been working at Subway part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Being able to talk to all staff members and they understand and are willing eventually to do whats been asked

    Cons

Some of the staff have bad attitudes towards each other and then the customers can see that

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I feel subway needs to be getting paid right, i know my staff members are under the usual amount and they are all starting to complain about it.

I worked at Subway part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good staff benefits and cheap meals as a student on minimum wage, enjoyable colleagues of same age and interests

    Cons

the younger workers tend to be a bit less 'motivated' to work nowadays, which means they often call in sick. Some of the franchisees are just stress heads who are not nice to their employees - no respect.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please screen franchisees for their ability to work with people, especially highschool kids.
