    Pros

Great Sydney office, with desks that you can even stand up and work in.
I found the Sales Channel Management to be supportive and allow you to do your work (no micromanaging).
Fruit delivered on Monday mornings is nice. :)
Health fund paid for as a benefit is awesome.

    Cons

Lots of disruption with the company splitting up on 1 April 2015. Lots of people were let go.

    Pros

I've been at Symantec far longer than I ever thought I would be, but overall it has been a good place to work. My roles have been varied, and I have worked with some very bright, passionate individuals. Salaries are generally competitive, benefits are great, and the company is diverse and ethical. There have been good ongoing opportunities for training and development, but I think these evaporate too quickly and aren't as widely available to competent, core employees.

    Cons

Historically we have tried to be too many things to too many people, and this lack of strategy has been very challenging at times. There has been too little depth, expertise, and innovation in specific areas. Because of the impending split (which virtually all agree is a good thing) there will be some significant change in the very near future.

    Advice to Management

Align everyone to a single set of values and objectives. Look beyond the split to develop a real, long-term strategy to put Symantec back on top again.

    Pros

Depends greatly on your immediate manager, if you get a good one, great, pros like on par salary and fairly stable workload.

Executive board trying to bring company back to its former glory means its exciting times.

    Cons

At the same time with changes in ceo, multiple restructures and culls, the company is an unstable workplace. Today you may be fine, but if your team cones under the spotlight, tough luck.

The company is also hell bent on bringing jobs back to US at the moment. So it has reduced heads in almost every overseas site except MV, Culver City, Dublin, Singapore, Chendu. If you are there, fantastic. If you are not - watch out.

    Advice to Management

Restructuring is great, but culling entire teams means you lose stars in those teams too.

    Pros

Good benefits - health insurance, ESPP etc

    Cons

Too US centric, management never cares about employees. No communication between departments.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the talent and resources or the good ones will all be gone to your competitors. Don't be a follower, be a leader.
