Learned many things at freshers level.

Software Engineer (Current Employee)
Pune (India)

I have been working at Syntel full-time for more than a year

ProsGood opportunity to learn new technologies, at freshers level.

ConsIt's your luck, which project you get at freshers level. So luck matters, rather than your interest and talent.

Shamless, miser, cheap company

Onsite Coordinator (Former Employee)
Troy, MI (US)

I worked at Syntel full-time for more than a year

ProsPersonal growth - negative
perks - worst than a begger
company values - worthless values

ConsThis company asked me to pay for 69 extra days of leave mentioning I have utilized more than 65 days which was mine leave, while in my latest three paystubs, the leave was showing 120 days. How they have calculated they only knows. A third graded Indian consultancy firm claiming they are a reputed US company.
Cheapest of all policies are been kept, not to pay the employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementBharat Desai, should see the policies for the employees and for the company. Since he is checking the revenue, which is nothing but a profit cut from the employees benefits and reimbursements.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Good place for starting your career

Software Engineer (Current Employee)
Mumbai (India)

I have been working at Syntel full-time for more than a year

ProsA good place to start your career as a fresher. You wont be on bench for long. Even if you are on bench, you time will be spent productively as you will be used as extras for some or other project. Learning curve is excellent. You will learn a lot of things in short time. Here they expect self learners, mentors are almost non existent. Work life balance is excellent as they rarely require you to stay over time. Also the number of paid leaves are highest in the consulting firms i have seen.

ConsIn the long run, i have come to find the salary hike & appreciation is not up to the mark. This has caused high level of attrition in talented people leaving the organization. Lack of quality mentors in projects causing difficulties for new joiners in project. At Chennai location there is a lot of favouritism shown to regional employees over the global workforce. This breeds mistrust and dissatisfaction among employees. The appraisal review & ratings is not transparent. Anything can be said behind closed doors by PL/PM but the real ratings are a shocker for most when released.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe salary structure should be revised not only in words but also in action.

Advice to Senior ManagementChange your company policies, and working environment. Its very unprofessional and depressing. No work culture, No work life balance at all
