Great place to work, but like all companies, it has its share of issues

Former Employee - Senior Manager in New York, NY (US)

    Pros

    - professional environment
    - nice co-workers (for the most part)
    - products that really work
    - employees are passionate about the products and company
    - problems solving culture - ie, know that they need to add value for their clients
    - many opportunities for employees to get together and talk shop and get trained!

    Cons

    - comp: they are cheap for the most part
    - often short staffed due too many "hiring freezes"
    - too quarterly driven (can you really blame them or any public company?)
    - like all companies this size sometimes the left had doesn't know what the right is up to

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - better communication to the front line employees

    Pros

Base pay isn't great but bonuses or commissions can be excellent. Nice people and smart people to work with. Training programs have gotten better. Many good products. The infrastructure group has a solid business.

    Cons

Very aggressive growth goals, without enough marketing support.
Problems with sales management and competition within sales groups. The Spotfire group has been experiencing some chaos and losing market share in a crowded space.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more customer focused and less of "the customer will do things our way."

    Pros

Lot of opportunities to explore. Excellent work culture. Organization is focused towards people growth. Counter parts are very helpful and make you feel at ease.

    Cons

Has grown big time here at Pune in the last few years. Focus on employees is weaning.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Great technical leaders. Perks such as shares now discontinued. Local leadership doesn't have much say in the larger software and professional services group.

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee  in  Maidenhead, England (UK)
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Maidenhead, England (UK)

    Pros

    - Good pay and bonus (especially if you can sustain lots of overtime)

    Cons

    - Unrealistic work expectations
    - Mostly no, little or merely self-study if training courses are not scheduled soon making it difficult to perform well during the project
    - Projects are under-resourced
    - No growth strategy
    - Products are a hard-sell unless Tibco is the only vendor on the table
    - HR unsupportive to employees
    - Very political environment where, unless careful, you may be blamed for others' mistakes
    - No work-life balance - was expected to do significant overtime including bank holidays (Christmas and New Year) working over 12 - 13 hours a day including weekends for nearly 2 months. Management could not care less about your overtime as long as the delivery is made.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Provide appropriate training prior to projects if the individual does not have the necessary knowledge and experience together with some mentoring during the project by someone experienced
    - Resource projects with the necessary employees

    Cons

politics, pune centric, too many products, hidden policies, variable completely depends on billability, which is actually not in individual hands.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think abt variable and place people managers who actually care for people

    Pros

    Good work environment
    Flexible timing
    Moderate salary offered
    No compulsion on PF
    Medi-claim Policy is good

    Cons

There could be some improvement in cafeteria.
The food quality served is not really good.
Flat structure of the organization may not seem really great for people moving from Services industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The training and certification programs should be more encouraged within organization.
Generic certifications should also be valued while assessments.

    Pros

Agile, entrepreneurial, flexible. Good software products. If you like working as a stand alone individual then a good environment.

    Cons

Full of politics across European office, very hierarchical, driven by US decision making. Unfriendly. Unsupportive office environment. Everyone disliked working there. Very little focus on training and development of people. Probably different if you work in the offices in the US though...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on clarifying EMEA management decision making hierarchy and plan to train and develop people.

Former Employee - Product Marketing Manager in Palo Alto, CA (US)

    Pros

Great management, lot of trust and independence and a true meritocracy. Lot of opportunity to grow and learn and explore roles without hard titles.

    Cons

Top management did change a lot and lot of people left the company as a result. Also seems like the company is not too keen to go big, so much as there is opportunity to step to the next level, doesn't seem like the company is going places. Not much work-life balance, but work is super enjoyable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hire a new CEO.
