ProsPros were some of the co-workers were great to work with. Great quality of children's clothing. Store had great sales for clothes for children , newborn to about 12 to 13 years old.

ConsEmployee discount wasnt that great. Customers would have better discounts then the employees. Managers didn't know how to manage time very well.

New York, NY (US)

Current Employee – been working at The Children's Place part-time for more than a year

ProsGreat place to start if you have no experience in retail.

ConsYou will not get a raise because the company is very cheap. You get a lot of corporate visits. Management team is constantly changing. They are always hiring new people and firing the best employees for the dumbest reasons. You will NOT get any hours and everything is based off of favoritism.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop looking for all the negatives and focus on the positives and look for better alternatives to improve customer satisfaction! Also, the management team needs to learn how to communicate with their employees.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at The Children's Place full-time for more than a year

ProsTeam environment on store level.
Salary and bonus.

ConsPayroll cut hugely in comparison to last year's budgets. An outlet store cannot run on 2 person coverage. Customers are leaving because they don't want to wait in the long line. Shoplifting is increasing because theives are discovering the lack of coverage. Impossible to do floorset, markdowns, process shipment, provide excellent service, LP awareness on 2 person coverage. Qaulity staff leaves due to lack of hours. Current DSM is unprofessional and rude. Direct quotes include "this store is disgusting", "that's the worst display I've ever seen ", "I hate it", "when you don't make sales plan, it is like taking food out of my child's mouth."

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat others how you want to be treated.

Stop with the favoritism.

Stop micro-managing.

Stop cutting payroll budgets. You are actually losing money in doing so.

Start acknowledging for a job well done.

Don't allow professional bullying to take place.

Dayton, OH (US)

Current Employee – been working at The Children's Place part-time for less than a year

Prosflexible scheduling, great staff, nice customers, good for people seeking 0-15 hrs

ConsOn calls make you not able to plan your day, shoplifters, manager plays favorites sometimes, not enough hours or pay

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't have your stores hire more people seasonally if they are only going to get 5 hours a week. POINTLESS!

Gilroy, CA (US)

Former Employee – worked at The Children's Place part-time for less than a year

ProsThe managers were wonderful, very friendly and extremely helpful. I loved all but one person I worked with. The kids are adorable that come into the store. Only had a couple rude customers which the manager handled for me. Good employee discount.

ConsEmployees did not get hours even during the holiday. Some weeks I did not get any hours at all and others I was given one day maybe two if I was lucky. No hours means low to no pay.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't hire people if you can't pay them or give them hours.

Current Employee – been working at The Children's Place part-time for more than a year

Prosgood people
fun environment
managers work with you on your availability
DISCOUNT!

ConsHours vary too often
The on calls suck!
Unrealistic expectations
Lots of pressure to get the PLACE card
When they need you they need you and thats it no if ands buts about it
too much of a double standard....you cant be late but a manager can

Advice to Senior ManagementI suggest you start rewarding your employees better wages. Without them the company wouldn't be making any money. Also your deadlines are unrealistic and the window changes and floor sets are ridiculous. Your products aren't selling because of a display they aren't selling because they are not up with the current fashion trends for children.
