    Pros

Gain great experience with tools and systems that are extremely valuable to the consumer products and retail industries. Flexible work environment. Interesting and dynamic work. Exposure to a wide range of marketing capabilities and solutions.

    Cons

Poor leadership related to human capital development. Lacking culture to keep people there and happy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in your people! It's more costly to recruit and train than keep good talent happy.

I worked at The Nielsen Company full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

High quality people, global opportunities, process improvement, invests in talent development. Real depth in analytics and measurement science. Great place to learn and connect.

    Cons

Occasional stifling bureaucracy and red tape, continual layoffs and CAPEX freezes, even for growth businesses. Strategy shifts often put people at risk.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay the course overall, but find ways to invest in people that goes beyond the top 20 percent to appreciate the rest of the top half of employees

I have been working at The Nielsen Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Access to online and if near an office, training. The company has a good habit of communicating management initiatives to the field employee.

    Cons

I agree with the other reviewers that Meritocracy, as practiced by Nielsen, exploits and burns out their talent pool. No work/life balance, just more responsibility without pay increases. HR is largely outsourced and is often a reason employees become dissatisfied with Nielsen as a company to trust as an employer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reorganization can be a powerful tool - but do not forget in all the home office shuffling you have to have boots on the ground that are motivated to deliver for your clients.

I have been working at The Nielsen Company as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

Nielsen really cares about people being happy. They're really a people company, assuring you are always happy, and really lives up to its "Simple, Open and Integrated" values. Great place to start and make a carreer.

    Cons

Sometimes the salary does not reflect the workload. It compensates on the learning but being a client service company stress and dealing with client should be better rewarded.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keeping people happy is a great business move, but don't forget the salary part, as it seems a great part of the crew rotation is due to salary related unsatisfaction.

I have been working at The Nielsen Company full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Wonderful people - smart, dedicated, focused on solving client problems.
Meaningful work - leaders really care about connecting the dots
    investment in developing people
    Healthy culture and good communication

    Cons

some leaders are really visible, some could do a better job. The town halls are great - could probably do more of these. Most leaders are easy to relate to and very approachable. The ones that weren't are no longer with Nielsen.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

keep building the culture - it is a big asset
develop more digital tools for employees
