I have been working at Tribal Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Highly diverse range of activities day-to-day.
Forward looking company for sales and markets.
    Great people to work with.
A great place to learn new skills so long as you put in the effort yourself.

    Cons

Too many activities without adequate management.
No project management for concurrent tasks.
Line managers do not have enough time to actively manage their teams.
Too many different requests with conflicting priorities makes the day-to-day job occasionally stressful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Build a PMO and get all the projects resourced and tracked correctly.
Allow managers to manage rather than seconding them to high profile tasks and leaving their teams bereft of strategic direction.

    Positive Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

    I worked at Tribal Group

    Pros

    Nice bunch of talented people
Training and development: not so much in terms of qualifications, but rather the opportunity to learn new software and gain experience, which is vital for career progression
    Work-life balance

    Cons

We felt disengaged from the company as a whole: that was good in some ways, but not so in others.

Salary didn't always reflect the success of the company: there were a lot of salary freezes, office and team changes and overall cutbacks during the bleak times and things didn't really change after new contract wins and improved market conditions. Similarly, as one improved their skills and ended up doing more to help the company, it wouldn't show in their pay. Aside from slight cost of living increases, things didn't change between joining with considerably less experience and three years later, when I was doing a lot more specialist work.

Perks: the online scheme seemed to be designed to dissuade or at least it just targeted a particular niche (in other words, it wasn't useful at all).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work out where you are going, recruit accordingly and value your staff.

Continual downsizing/cutbacks have created a company with little true integrity

I worked at Tribal Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Some really interesting contracts and work.
A pool of talented people in some areas.

    Cons

Poor middle management. When people are promoted to positions for which they lack the necessary ability, the company do not address the fundamental problems
No CPD (continuing professional development) despite repeated promises.
Lack of honesty about company plans. Sudden redundancies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest with your staff, value them and invest in them. It will reap much greater rewards in the longer term than short-term short-sighted profits.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Tribal Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Opportunity to travel.. Can be left to own devices for the most the time. Due to the lack of management at the office - can pretty much get away with murder.

    Cons

No management. No training. Terrible team communication. Lots of office politics to contend with... Will happily expect staff to work until the late hours because of staffing issues.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Employ actual managers.

    I worked at Tribal Group

    Pros

Depending on department great opprtunities for advancement and a very good atmosphere. If you are feted to be working in a profitable section you will have scope for career development and personal development.

    Cons

Very variable across the country, Tribal is a series of small companies bought together by investors with a vision, what that was appears to have been lost and Tribal is struggling to define itself and within it's markets. This can must make management difficult and decisions often seem arbitrary with career development tied to whatever is the new vogue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A clear vision is needed for the future is needed.

I have been working at Tribal Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good Salary, Free Tea & Coffee, flexible working hours.

    Cons

Management highly inexperienced! Really glitchy products! They tend to simply "add a new bit on" which should hopefully mask the broken parts, I think there software has more versions than I do hot dinners!!

Developers living in the stone age! QA is almost none existent!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to staff more! Seek advice when needed and start looking further afield when developing software, all of it needs a fresh approach! Excellent development teams scattered around Tribal but terrible managers who don't utilize them to the full extent!
