Revenue Audit Supervisor

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Turning Stone

ProsGet exposure to all types of accounting. Most of finance is friendly. 1 hour paid lunch. Get to work with a wide range of people.

ConsIf you don't have a CPA there is no future for you. Long, long hours for salaried employees. 4 managers in less than a year due to turn over. After 10 years might as well start looking for a new job. Manage people that get paid more than me. Constant turn over guaranteed every 6-8 months.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to keep the people that have given the company 10-20 years of their life. What is the point in working for a company if there is no stability.

They don't want you to work for them, they want you to live for them.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Turning Stone

ProsPays slightly more than other jobs in the area, lunch can be cheap

ConsRequired political meetings, petty managers, huge gossip mill, getting in and out takes an extra half hour just to get to and from the parking lot, everything that goes with working at a casino

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Good company, just wasn't for me anymore

Black Jack Dealer (Former Employee)
Verona, NY (US)

I worked at Turning Stone full-time for more than 8 years

ProsThey have really great benefits-health insurance, 401k paid time off etc.-they are a large and prospering company even in this time of recession, are still growing, expanding and creating new jobs! In the 9 years that I worked there, they only had one set of lay-offs.

ConsOpen everyday even on holidays. Stopped giving annual raises about 4 or 5 years ago even though they are doing so well with this economy. Some of the upper management have no compassion for their employees and are not equipped to be understanding of their co-worker's personal needs. The business itself is a completely different breed of animal and is not for everyone, especially if you don't have a tough skin for casino life. Also, be prepared for things to change on a daily basis with no explanation why.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't forget where you came from. Most of you started out on the bottom rung and some of you forget to look down from time to time. Be more approachable and put into practice the things that you are preaching. Other than that, great job and thank you for the opportunities that I was given.

The experience at Turning Stone is horrible.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Turning Stone full-time

ProsOther than benefits, there are truly none that I personally can speak of.

ConsThe "business" is run more like a high school and different departments leaders will try to keep employees in that department with false write ups.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet some new management who are actual professionals in the area of business and not just people fresh out of college. Raise your standards and I'm sure you could benefit from it.

Great experience as a Dealer

Dealer (Former Employee)
Verona, NY (US)

I worked at Turning Stone full-time for more than 8 years

ProsPay was good.
Great people to work with and for.
A variety of people.
Able to switch days off with other people and since there are a lot of dealers and each shift it wasn't too hard to get what I needed.

ConsShifts are rigid in time start and out. Often you start of swing shift when you are new.
The negativity of the guests starts to get to you after a while.
