I have been working at US Department of Defense

    Pros

At SOUTHCOM, people are very friendly and professional. One of the benefits is that there is a gym on site. It is also located in a ice part of Miami.

    Cons

They are no longer paying summer interns and Miami is an expensive city to live in so it means taking a volunteer opportunity in order to participate in the program.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    pay interns

I have been working at US Department of Defense

    Pros

The mission and the people - strong sense of purpose and service to the nation, and (overall) an extremely dedicated workforce.

    Cons

Lots of red tape and bureaucratic processes - can be hard to innovate. Old-fashioned performance management approaches are optimized towards average performers; can be frustrating if you're a very high performer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop focusing so much on rank or time in grade, and focus more on rewarding excellence and creating the conditions where people can innovate.

    Recommends
    No opinion of CEO
