    I have been working at US Department of Defense full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    relaxed dress code: collared shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes; work schedule (730-1600); 1.5 hrs for lunch if including working out at gym; most of work can be done communicating by phone and/or email-low face to face contact time; flexibility with time off.

    Cons

    LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION-my commute has doubled; most of work knowledge comes from OJT or teleconferencing, no formal classroom training due to budgets; promotion limited; super slow internet besides DoD websites; antiquated monitors and scanners and fax machines;

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Provide more perks especially during down time, off peak season, more command luncheons, newer equipment and furniture.

    I have been working at US Department of Defense part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Mission essential so you don't lose work during weather related emergencies

    Cons

    CYPA 4 job is extremely stressful for little pay. Commissary workers earn more for very little responsibility. A CYPA 4 has to keep children alive and well.
    Most work has to be done at home if it isn't direct contact with the children.
