    Great place to work

Learning Manager (Current Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsHeadroom to follow up on new ideas, friendly atmosphere, truly global, very human generally, inspiring CSR mission that really matters (not just greenwashing), very varied, some roles offer good work-life balance, virtual working

ConsCan be a bit silo-mentality, need to do lots of stakeholder management which can slow things down a bit, pay is good but not best-in-class but the pros outweigh this IMHO

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Great work atmosphere for interns, Co op is highly recommended!

Category Procurement Analyst Intern (Former Employee) Trumbull, CT (US)

ProsThe work atmosphere in the Trumbull, CT office was family oriented. People were always very friendly to one another and teams felt like families. As an intern, I was highly respected among all my coworkers. There is a lot of room to grow in the company too with the companies rotational program.

ConsI was not a fan of the location in Trumbull, CT but that is personal preference.

A truly great business with a unique vision

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsTrue emphasis on sustainable growth - operating ethically will deliver improved sales
    Outstanding people and collaborative culture
Genuine work/life balance achieved for most employees
Wonderful brands that really do improve consumers' lives
Good pay, based on good performance
Still massive opportunities to grow in new markets and win share through innovation

ConsDecision-making can be painfully slow - driven by consensus culture and obsession with keeping everyone happy and informed
Product performance is not necessarily as good as competitors in some areas (laundry, some foods) and some ranges have become too flabby and indistinct
Extraordinarily hierarchical - like the colonial civil service in some respects
Not a business for mercurial minds and instinctive, creative spirits

Advice to Senior ManagementA record-breaking year in 2012 and another in prospect for 2013 despite global downturn. The temptation must be to just carry on what we're doing right now. But we have to be faster, more imaginative and less bureacratic if we're to see off hungry competitors. We talk about it, but I don't see the people aroud me changing...

    Great Brands

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Englewood Cliffs, NJ (US)

ProsExcellent brand portfolio, extremely competitive internationally and really has the foundation for rapid global expansion. Great people. Always looking for ways to improve and innovate. Very flexible work environment - job share and part time options. Good with flex place work as well.

ConsLong hours. Roles continue to expand but are not upgraded so people are stretched thin. Very political organization. It can be difficult to gain clear alignment and move forward.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Review of Unilever plc July 2012

Assistant CMI Manager (Current Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsThe culture here is fantastic and its a great place to learn. Fantastic brands to work on and inspirational senior management.

Conscompared to other FMCG companies of this size and smaller renumeration is significantly below average. Opportunities are good but progression is often limited by internal politics / not enough roles coming up

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
