Pros – My boss is super nice and is willing to teach me.

Cons – No opportunity to get promoted.

Pros – The jobs are laid back and easy to handle for TA and GRA positions

Cons – Some random projects for my GRA position were near impossible to do, but they were very scarce

Pros – I Loved working at UMKC, In the beginning, in the department I was in everyone was great.

Cons – When It came time for me to make the choice of quitting my job because HR Harassed me and some employees were treating me awful. It could have been handled by HR a little better.

Advice to Senior Management – None, my Management was great and full of support.

Pros – Columbia Missouri is a very nice, affordable place to live. The University does have an excellent selection of learning opportunities.

Cons – I have seen many graduate students exploited by their "mentors" as cheap technical labor. These mentors often make no effort to move the student toward gradation, and instead slow the student down as to keep them in the lab for a couple of extra years.

Advice to Senior Management – Institute policies to ensure that all graduate students are steadily progressing toward a degree.

Pros – It is a low key, not too demanding job.

Cons – Benifit is definitely not as good as working in good IT company.

Pros – Autonomy is the key. As a research scientist I was given leeway to explore projects in my own ways, and there was support when I needed it, both from my supervisor and from the office staff.

Cons – I don't think this is a con, but you'd have to enjoy living in a small college town to work here. That being said, I truly enjoyed Columbia as a city. They are very forward-thinking despite their size and location in the middle of nowhere.

Pros – MU is one of six public universities that houses a law school, medical school, and a veterinary medicine school on the same campus.

Cons – The University of Missouri is located in Columbia Missouri. Columbia is a small city. Boring and not much to do.
