I worked at University of Nottingham as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Good part time pay for a student job and can fit it around academic commitments. While at university this job gave some work experience to put on the CV for future employers.

    Cons

There are always events going on at the uni but the irregularity of the work can mean some weeks without work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is not much in the way of management as it is a part time uni job.

    Recommends
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at University of Nottingham

    Pros

Nottingham is a cheap place to live, expanding University, nice buildings.

    Cons

No culture, systems (appraisal, review, flexible working hours etc.) are non-standardised and generally not very helpful, people more interested in promoting themselves then developing research with an impact.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would imagine in a University, staff are one of the biggest assets as they drive student numbers and satisfaction; might be an idea to treat them as such.

  10.
