Woodstock, GA (US)

Current Employee – been working at Walmart Stores part-time for more than a year

ProsThis is not a bad company overall. The charity work done by some individuals at the company is quite noble.

ConsThe bottom line is priority over associate satisfaction/ morale. The feeble attempts made by some management is not enough to make associates want to have a long-term career at Wal-mart.

Advice to Senior ManagementRespect for the individual. Practice the standards of excellence on which this company was built everyday.

Mill Hall, PA (US)

Former Employee – worked at Walmart Stores part-time for more than a year

Prosyou get raises, can buy stock if you want, the work is kinda easy, you get 3 free call offs every 6 months and it's simple to call off, the registers are up to date and they have self checkouts (FUN :) )

Conscommunication and the lack thereof, rules change constantly and I mean CONSTANTLY, rules are not told to the employes, can be fired very easily for things you wouldn't imagine getting fired for, not allowed to help anyone if off the clock, managers are kind of rude, wal-mart treats the customers like gods and the workers like they don't mater

Advice to Senior Managementbe less rude, treat workers kindly, don't change the policy's so often or at least notify the employes when you do

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Shelby, NC (US)

Former Employee – worked at Walmart Stores full-time for more than 8 years

Prosoffer just above average pay
three work schedules - two ten hour shifts four days a week and one twelve hour shift for three days on weekends
quarterly bonus

Conspoor benefits
work you on production scale but do not pay for production
Management team
working environment can be extreme either hot or cold and work is very physical

Advice to Senior ManagementWalmart claims they have three basic principles, go back to them and realize that its the associates that get the job done. You have hard working people pay them for the job they do.

Review your management selection process to find the right person for the right job not a buddy system.

Former Employee – worked at Walmart Stores full-time for more than 10 years

ProsHelping customers, good coworkers, benefits, little traveling, and associate discount (except groceries).

ConsBenefit costs keep increasing while the benefits provided decrease.
The company's new direction is making it difficult to meet community needs.
Hours are cut more frequently in recent years while the work load and responsibilites increase.
Pay caps.

Advice to Senior ManagementAppreciate your hard workers and long time associates more. There is little reward or advantage in being a reliable and diligent employee with the way the company is structured now; however, a little appreciation for a job well done will go far. It is understandable that the company want to compete with chains like Target, but working with a communities needs alway made the company stand out. It is a shame that the home office felt that the only way to be successful as a nationwide company required no longer trusting their management to be effective at meeting the needs of their store.

Current Employee – been working at Walmart Stores full-time for more than 8 years

ProsGood people that work with you and for you! If you need something they all are willing to help! Bonuses....Open door and No Union. Management schedules works 3, 12 hour shifts off 3days and so on.

ConsDress code. Working when you are scheduled off. Getting directions and being redirect. Working and not being able to management because no associates to give direction to. Not enough help in the stores!!!! Getting direction in the middle of the day and having to redo everything you just did! 3 different managers telling you different tasks to do at the same time!

Advice to Senior ManagementStop letting your managers work so hard that they can't do there jobs. We have all these tasks that everyone wants done and will be held accountabe for but, can't do it because we have on all the hats at Wal-Mart from stocking, being a cashier, maintenance, backroom team, unloading trucks, zoning ect...... what is our job?
