Current Employee – been working at Waste Management full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Huge company, many divisions, financially strong, lots of opportunities (especially if one's open to relocation) across the country. Has traditionally been very generous to it's employees, and formerly enjoyed a great reputation as a great place to work.
Cons – Many company functions are becoming centralized, which causes significant loss of "local" talents and relationships. This is do to cost-cutting, even though all the information put out by the company always seems to be rolling in dough.
Advice to Senior Management – Why keep dumping the people who do the real work?

Cons – Scalehouse can get really congested, customers get irritated with the wait, poor communication between shifts, scheduling was a constant battle.
Advice to Senior Management – Better training.

Former Employee – worked at Waste Management full-time
Pros – Overall, the leadership at WM is truly committed to the safety of their employees. There are some managers that don't quite get it, but that is not because of lack of support from Sr. Leadership.
Cons – They may have cut too far in trying to reduce management structure costs. All the same work must be done (if not more) and resources are limited.
Advice to Senior Management – The few safety resources left in the field must be more highly valued and compensated. They are key to continued success. The size of the group has been greatly diminished, so the folks left have tremendous responsibility.

Current Employee – been working at Waste Management full-time
Pros – Fair compensation and benefits, for the most part hard working great co-workers
Cons – Customer retention tough due to pricing strategy and fees, long hours for managers.
Advice to Senior Management – Come up with a long term strategy for unit growth pricing stability based on overall industry capacity and share this with the employees.

Former Employee – worked at Waste Management full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Pay was decent as was hours. Gave you the training you needed to get the job done. Tried to give good customer service for what they were charging for but this did not always happen.
Cons – Raises were on hold. Always doing a reconstruction in the sales area. Think that because they have been around for a long time they should be able to give customers a higher rate than their competitor, not realistic with their sales goals.
Advice to Senior Management – Need to be more realistic with pricing due to the economy! Need to value the customers they have that give more than 100%!
