I worked at Whirlpool full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

people in the factory are committed and nice. autonomy was somehow good.

    Cons

Management was made of financial more than industrial people. never going on the field. thinking badly about people, willing to work only with new ones. but hey guys, old ones know better than you think, they had all the keys, you were just unable to find them. conclusion : you are bad managers. benefits via bonus was reduced year after year. nothing interesting here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be managers - respect people - have them working with you not against you.

I worked at Whirlpool as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Had an amazing time working with the people. Very friendly and laid back. Great experience that has really opened some doors for me.

    Cons

Stress of my job sometimes got to me. Position was located in a small town so local attractions/things to do, were low.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more time bringing lower employees into your office and checking up on them. Give them advice not only about their job, but about their career goals.

I have been working at Whirlpool full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

This is a great place to learn fast, sink or swim learning curve,

    Cons

Pay is too low for the surrounding area, managment makes excuses instead of proposing a wage increase. Management is out of loop with workers, expectations of skeleton crew is very demanding, work is not divided well among the employees. Too many cons to count.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase the pay for the trades to match the area's wages, stop making excuses, pay attention when people are dissatasfied.

I have been working at Whirlpool full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Whirlpool is moving in the right direction with their "Straight Talk" philosophy. The management does a good job of rewarding most for their contributions.

    Cons

Work-life balance is hard to achieve during heavy new product introductions. Major corporation and they go through cost cutting measures that includes job eliminations for some.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give clear direction and make sure all factories management are aligned with corporate management.

Great successful company which continues to grow. Worked in Personnel, shipping, benefits and receptionist and loved every minute.

    Cons

I do not have any Cons for Whirlpool, they treated me great.

I have been working at Whirlpool

    Pros

Whirlpool is the caretaker of some of America's greatest brands in appliances. They make so e excellent products.

    Cons

The quarter end pushes for volume are endless and almost harassing. Whirlpool also treats older employees like trash, something to be discarded. I have seen time and again high quality people around me disposed of. The latest guy had 13 years of excellent t reviews. 5 weeks ago he was put on a performance plan and now he's gone. No severance nothing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The EEOC will get you guys some day.
