5 days after giving my on-site interviews at Amazon, the recruiter mailed me to schedule a time for a 15 mins call to discuss the decision they have come to. What could this mean? He didn’t convey any other information. Just wanted to know if someone here experienced something similar, and does this simply mean the recruiter is too nice to reject me over email?

What does it mean when an interviewer says “we’ll be in touch with next steps”? Does this mean you’re progressing to the next stage of the interview or is it just a generic response when they’re rejecting you?

Is there a general protocol for letting someone go? Or is the process company-specific? Does it have to do with living in a specific state? I recently dealt with an incredibly toxic boss - micromanaging, condescending, flat-out rude/disrespectful. I finally spoke up and was encouraged to regain my confidence/push back/stand my ground. Her behavior became more aggressive, and less than 10 days later I was let go. No written/verbal warning that my job was ever in jeopardy but blamed performance…
