On October 1, 1952, Daniel J. Edelman and Associates was founded in the Merchandise Mart in Chicago with three employees servicing one client. More than 60 years later, with 65 offices and over 5,000 employees servicing over 2,000 clients, Edelman is the largest public relations firm in the world. But, just like 60 year ago, we’re independent and family-owned.
Edelman was named one of Advertising Age’s “A-List Agencies” in both 2010 and 2011, and an “Agency to Watch” in 2014; Adweek’s “2011 PR Agency of the Year;” PRWeek’s “2011 Large PR Agency of the Year;” and The Holmes Report’s “2013 Global Agency of the Year” and its 2012 “Digital Agency of the Year.” Edelman has been awarded seven Cannes Lions including the Grand Prix for PR in 2014. Edelman was named one of the “Best Places to Work” by Advertising Age in 2010 and 2012 and among Glassdoor’s “Best Places to Work” in 2011, 2013 and 2014. Edelman owns specialty firms Edelman Berland (research), Edelman Deportivo (creative), Blue (advertising), BioScience Communications (medical communications) and agency Edelman Significa (Brazil).

We value and strive for diversity. Edelman believes in and champions diversity in thought, perspective and background. As pioneer thinkers, our success lies in the ability to innovate and identify solutions for our clients. We are committed to providing the best counsel available. We can offer our clients rich and grounded counsel by including diverse counselors in our employee population, locally, regionally and globally. What makes Edelman special? It’s our people.
We are intellectually curious, tenacious in our actions, and have the drive to be autonomous knowing that we are only as good as the collective. People from all walks of life have found success here. That’s why we’re always looking for the best talent in public relations, advertising, marketing, consulting, design, research, creative, digital and so much more.
We hire people who are extraordinary; people who are smart, passionate and creative. We capitalize on our different backgrounds to collaborate and create a company that thrives on diversity – of culture and experience. We each have big ideas but we all learn from and respect the ideas of others. Our values drive our approach to work and life. Together we create the “Edelman DNA!”
If you want to thrive in a place where you can bring your talents and be stretched further than you imagined, then come talk to us.
Edelman aspires to have the smartest workforce in our field, and therefore, we take seriously the responsibility to nurture intellectual curiosity in our employees in every aspect of their lives. Our education program focuses on our craft, but also recognizes the importance of expanding education into business, culture, the environment and the arts – as well as the art of leadership and good management.
We view training as just one element of a 360-degree Culture of Learning that is essential for communications professionals working in an age of Public Engagement. We encourage ongoing dialogue between managers and employees about their future aspirations through our Career Development Program, and we offer opportunities for colleagues to learn from one another through our various Mentor partnerships.
Additionally, our Global Women’s Executive Network (GWEN) focuses on networking, mentoring, recruiting, collaborating and career planning for women at Edelman, with the objective of increasing the presence of women leaders at the most senior levels of the company and creating an environment where women are encouraged to lead and succeed.
Finding the right balance between our personal and working lives is key to maintaining health, productivity, creativity and overall job satisfaction. We continuously seek options and tools to enable employees to achieve their work/life balance goals. Here are just a few:
Flexible Work Arrangements
For many years, Edelman has supported a variety of reduced workweek and flextime arrangements. Today, nearly 75 percent of our offices offer flexible work time. Telecommuting is also available to select U.S.-based full-time or part-time employees. Worldwide, almost 40 percent of our offices offer transportation vouchers, while nearly 10 percent provide other forms of transportation support.
Edelman Escape is a unique program that offers U.S. employees $1,000 and an extra week of vacation to escape from the duties of everyday work to pursue a dream, goal or experience that will enrich their lives. Employees submit an application describing what they would like to do, and finalists are chosen each year. Past winners have spent time with a brother before he was deployed to Iraq, took a son to Washington, D.C. to learn more about the U.S. Constitution, produced a film script, worked for Habitat for Humanity and traveled to China to see the birthplace of a mother and grandmother.
For more than a decade, Edelman has provided support for child adoption and now offers $5,000 in assistance to full-time employees and $3,000 to part-timers. Of course, pets are family too, so recently we introduced a pet adoption assistance program in the U.S. that provides up to $100 in financial reimbursement for pet adoption.
Beyond Conventional Benefits
All great companies offer competitive benefits and Edelman is no exception. Employee benefits are tailored by location to meet the specific needs of our people, their families and their communities. Beyond the conventional benefits, though, you’ll find local “extras” that come in many forms, from language training and book clubs, to fitness classes, food vouchers and office pantries stocked with healthy foods. Edelman’s tobacco-free work environment also helps to provide a safe and healthy workplace that promotes the health and wellbeing of our employees. By the way, if you want to lose weight or stop smoking, we provide help and financial incentives for that too.
