Job Summary:ExxonMobil is seeking qualified candidates to conduct research and development of Arctic technologies for offshore oil and gas production. ExxonMobil's Upstream Research Company is the central research and technology development organization for ExxonMobil's worldwide upstream business. This position will be based in Houston Texas with some domestic and international travel.Typical Job Responsibilities•Research, develop, and deliver technologies that will enable recovery of oil & gas resources from remote Arctic Offshore regions.•Technology areas of interest include ice-capable ships and floating or bottom-founded platforms, tools for remote characterization of ice, ice defense or management, arctic operations and logistics.•Work with ExxonMobil multi-disciplinary engineering teams in a structured research environment to: oConduct conceptual feasibility studies for new technology ideasoPlan and conduct equipment test programs for components and systemsoPlan and conduct field test programsoEvaluate third party-developed technologies, and work with developers to enhance and adapt the technology to ExxonMobil's needsJob Requirements:•M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Naval Architecture, Ocean, Aerospace, Electrical) or related discipline. •Experience successfully conducting research or technology development projects, or a significant work scope in a large project is required•Solid technical, analytical, and fundamental research skills required•Strong communication, innovation, and teamwork capabilities•Demonstrated leadership experiencePreferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Candidates who have a background in engineering areas similar to those below and who can quickly adapt those skills will be strongly considered. Relevant experience includes any of the following: •Ice mechanics with application to ice/ship and ice/structure interactions•Remote sensing (subsea, aerial, satellite) with application to sea ice and icebergs•Arctic engineering•Design of offshore gravity structures•Design of ice-strengthened and/or icebreaking ships•Design validation using model-scale ice basin tests•Permafrost engineeringExxonMobil is an Equal Opportunity Employer
