Having focused on optical disc media since its inception, Sony DADC (Digital Audio Disc Corp.) didn't really feel the negative effects of the waning VHS and cassette tape industry. A subsidiary of Sony Corp., Sony DADC manufactures DVDs, audio CDs, Blu-Ray discs, and PlayStation UMDs (Universal Media Discs) that contain replicated content (i.e music, software); it also offers packaging and supply chain services. In addition, the company develops technologies intended to prevent illegal disk copying and offers a variety of digital services, including digital content storage. Established in 1986, Sony DADC operates globally through 28 facilities located in Europe, Asia, Australia, Japan, and the Americas.
