Thoughts on Sullivan & Cromwell opening a Houston office? It’s unclear to me how they expect to compete with Latham and K&E. This isn’t NYC, brand alone doesn’t translate into wins here. It also raises the question of whether this starts to resemble Skadden Houston: present for years, but never close to market-leading, or whether it looks more like Paul Hastings or Clifford Chance: trying to grow in Houston but unable to attract the real market players.

I’m at a mid-sized firm right now but wanting to make more money. I was previously at a national firm doing only Labor and Employment and enjoyed it, so I am thinking of applying to Jackson Lewis. I would be in the Omaha office. Any information you all can provide about JL, especially in Omaha, would be great. I know it would be a grind, but I’m fine doing that for a few years to make some good money and gain a lot of experience and training. The goal eventually is to go in house somewhere.

I got 2 offers from the same company but for different roles, both are functional consulting roles. I live in the Lorton area. One offer is for $165k base salary and I’d be on-site in Springfield 5 days a week (very close to home). Second offer is for $155k base salary and I’d be on-site in Ashburn once a week. Is this a no-brainer? I’m leaning toward the Ashburn role but wanted to hear some other opinions. Thanks in advance

Any former patent litigators pivot to an in-house role unrelated to patent litigation with a good WLB even if it’s much lower pay? I’ve struck out repeatedly trying to move to patent-related or litigation-related roles. I’m geographically constrained to the SF Bay Area (peninsula or South Bay), but open to pivoting. I want to move on from private practice/billable hours and don’t need it to be intellectually stimulating.

I came to Glassdoor to gain some insight from others on my company. It is odd that I can find no information on Arthur J Gallagher Risk Management. They are one of the largest brokerages in the world and nothing listed here? I can't be the first person from the organization to research through this site. Do you all think that firms will continue to open in Seattle or are they primarily just a “show” office that is used to poach from Perkins? MoFo, A&P, holland and knight and McGuirewoods all opened up offices recently but they seem quite small. From the area and eventually would want to move back but opportunities are limited due to market size.
